This happend at a gunshow I attended. Apparently, he grabbed the pistols and made a dash for the back door. I left about a hour or so before the festivities started:

His first mistake was trying to steal four guns.

His second was trying to steal them at a gun show.

Several people, including the vendor who the alleged gun thief tried to steal from, jumped on the man at the RK Shows, Inc. gun show today at Cessna Activity Center.

"The very wrong place to do this," said the vendor, Austin Sechler.

Sechler said the man tried to steal four Smith & Wessons -- two 9mm and two .40-caliber guns. Combined, the guns have a value of more than $1,600, Sechler said.

Sechler and others detained the man, who was about 20 years old, with zip ties -- hard plastic fasteners -- until law enforcement officers arrived and took him away.

Zip ties!

Love it.

I hope they "gave him the business" while they applied the zip ties and before law enforcement arrived.

I think the young thief was rather lucky all that happened to him was that he was bound over to the police restrained with zip ties.
Down here the chances are pretty good that the police wouldn't have been called until the taser rep had finished his demonstration

Taser rep is just too funny!

Dont hear of too many gun show robberies indoors. A couple outdoor smash and grabs of guns they were bought and tossed in the car while doing a second walk through,,, But stealing guns from a gun show? Guys is lucky he didnt get more than a couple of zip ties!
The guy is just plain dumb, and should NOT be allowed to breed.

All that takes is a couple of zip-ties placed where they do on sheep.

In addition to being a potential Taser test subject, there's the pepper spray vendor who might want to demonstrate his product as well.

Man grabs four guns at gun show

His first mistake was trying to steal four guns.

His second one was trying to steal them at a gun show.

The alleged crook scooped up four Smith & Wesson guns from a vendor's table at the RK Gun Inc. show Sunday at Cessna Activity Center, 2744 George Washington Blvd.

But he didn't make it far. The vendor and at least two others who were at the show grabbed the man before he could make it out the door, held him down, then cuffed him with zip ties -- hard plastic fasteners -- until law enforcement officers arrived.

Austin Sechler, the vendor who said the man tried to steal from him, said it was "the very wrong place to do this."

Sechler said the man, whom he estimated to be about 20, looked at guns at the tables of many sellers.

While it's not uncommon for potential gun buyers to examine different guns, the suspect did something a bit unusual, Sechler said.

"He was picking them up, putting them in his pocket, seeing how they fit in his pocket," Sechler said.

Eventually, the man -- who had been with several others earlier -- came back alone to Sechler's table. Sechler said the man stacked two of the guns on top of two others.

"I asked him, 'What are you doing?' " Sechler said. "And he looks at me, he loops his fingers through the trigger guards of all four of them, and headed for that door."

Sechler jumped over a table and grabbed the man. Soon, two or three others at the show helped hold the man down, Sechler said.

"He finally gave up when there was four guys laying on him," Sechler said.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said that law enforcement officers arrived within five minutes of being called, and the man was taken into custody.
