The stock market may be down, but I did pretty well on S&W stocks this weekend. On the right, $7 from a milsurp store. On the left, $5 from a gun store. Going to throw these in the parts drawer for a rainy day.

The problem is, I have a bad habit of buying gun grips, and then looking for a gun to go with them. It's suppose to go the other way around!

Anyone else make some good finds this weekend?

No stocks but I got three guns for $400. A Colt 1903 from 1917 (reblued), a 1957 XR3 OM Single Six w/ stags and a .22 short Beretta Minx. I'm OK with the deal. Joe

I would like to be able to find cheap grips to love, but I've never been so lucky. I do though love good stag grips and these are not cheap. They are well worth the money though.

Luckily I do not have expensive tastes in stocks (yet). Personally I love the look of magnas, especially diamonds.

Who says? I think you have a unique and workable system for plotting your next purchase, with lots of flexibility built in. Simply Brilliant! ;)

I bought my S&W stocks for $4.00+ and now its down to ~$2.50 .

Ruger went from $10 to $25 plus pays dividends. Just don't understand stocks, but have some extra wood ones too.

I got lucky a few weeks ago, & picked up a pair of K-frame round butt service grips, like new for $10.00. now I need a K-frame round butt. all my smiths have service grips.

Nice score X2. Are the ones on th left what I need for my Model 36 circa 1983?

Acquiring decent grips/stocks when you find them is a great idea. I've been doing it for many years. Same for boxes, presentation cases, SAT's, cleaning kits and other S&W related items.

My best stock deal was well over a dozen years back. Stopped at the Herretts factory in Twin Falls, ID on my way south to Lk Tahoe. They had a box literally full of returned custom stocks for various S&W revolvers.

I found a dozen K and N frame stocks most of them the Jordan Trooper design, a few Ropers. All of them AA or AAA fancy walnut all smooth.

IIRC I paid $150 for the lot. Today a single pair will cost about that much. Just dug out a pair of RB N frames yesterrday for the new 627 8 shot PC gun.

Nothing wrong with being a stock hoarder!
