I have a nice Mod 28 I bought used but it was wearing Pachmayr’s, I put targets on for shooting but have been wanting to get a set of Magnas to “restore” it.
Fast forward to the last gun show I attended. A guy had a set pristine set tagged as K frames.
I bought them for $40 figuring they might come in handy.
Today I was going through my grips box and was comparing the ones I bought with a set I had.
The new ones were just a bit bigger.
Turns out they are black washer N frame.
I didn’t know they were that close in size.

Sometimes ya luck out!

Once at a LGS I bought a set of what I believed to be K frame, RB diamond grips. When I got home I put them on a 3", M65, RB, K frame and they were a bit too small so I put them back in my storage box figuring they were just a mistake. Decades later I leaned that they were indeed made for the less popular M12! Never owning a M12 I never knew the grips were a tad smaller. I wound up selling the here on the Forum - they were pristine.

You and I have somewhat similar stories. About 4-1/2 years ago I bought 3 sets of S&W "J-frame" grips from a LGS, and just like your situation after getting home I found one of the sets to appeared to be K-frames but didn't fit any of my K-frames correctly. During my attempts (in a S&W Facebook group) to determine what model they were for, Michael de Bethencourt private-messaged me with an explanation and ended up buying them from me since he needed a correct set of Model 12 RB Magnas for a comparison he was doing for an article that he was writing.
