Roy Jinks was at Larry's Pistol and Pawn in Huntsville AL last Friday and Saturday. I went up Saturday morning. A deputy sheriff was directing traffic, the place was packed. I got to spend about 10 minutes with Roy, chatting, and getting him to autograph some things. Roy is a true gentleman. If you ever have the opportunity to meet him, go! It's worth the trip.

Dave, lucky you. I have had the pleasure of talking with him on the phone a couple of times in tracking serial numbers for stolen guns. He is a wealth of information and a true gentleman.

No picture. I left my cell phone in the car and folks were lined up to talk with him. I carried a copy of one of his books. He autographed it with the following: To David, I hope that this helps. Best wishes, Roy G. Jinks. It really means a lot to me, and the book is in my safe! Like I said, if you ever have the opportunity, do it!!

I love the times I have been able to see Roy through the years.
I truly believe that, when you factor in the establishment of the SWCA and the devotion to it, the books, articles, letters, conversations, speeches at the annual meetings, etc, it can TRULY be said that NO single individual has done more for S&W collecting!

THANKS, and kudos to the man.

Wow that is so great. What a man and a contribution he has made. I met Bill Jordan many years ago at the Mississippi Highway Patrol academy during the NRA match.

I asked him how much longer he would be there and he said WHY. I explained I wanted to go home and get my copy of No second chance for him to sign. He simply said " No hurry I will wait" When I returned I asked him to put those same words down which he did.

Men like Roy and Bill are true Gentlemen

Lee; You missed the S&WHF which is also something Roy has had a great deal to do with. Hopefully more and more people will catch on to the idea that once Roy is gone it isn't likely the Factory will hire another "Historian" and I'm very sure they'll never find another Roy Jinks. Not many people are willing to work nearly 24/7 doing something like what Roy does.

Hopefully the S&WHF will give us Collectors some place to turn when Roy is no longer with us but it won't be a simple task.

KKG has hit on it.

What's going to happen when Roy is gone??

Roy has been part of my life for over 20 years although I've never had the pleasure of meeting him, I have spoken to him on the phone several times and of course on line through the SWCA. Roy CAN be crotchity at times, but then I get that way myself from time to time.

Roy is definitely an institution in of himself. It would take no less than probably 6 people to take his place in overall knowledge.

I don't think there are 6 people alive today that have the collective knowledge that Roy has. He also has the ability of being a truly "Human" Human Being!
