I had such good luck with you experts the last time I would like to try again. Does anyone know what model this gun is? The serial number on the cylinder and under handle is 741935. It looks like there is a number on crane that appears to be 75051. Hope that helps. It is a 38.

It appears to be a Pre-Victory British Service Revolver, British Purchasing Commission contract, from about March/April 1941 (extrapolating from the fact that 76- ones were shipping in May).
It is almost too pristine to be original; the two-tone appearance (cylinder and ejector rod are a different, plummish blue) also indicates a possible non-original finish. But the pictures are not sufficient for a definite call.

Interesting because this one has a 6" barrel. According to the reading I've done (I think from Pate) the BSR was standardized at 5" in October, 1940. It seems a little bit unusual to find a 6" shipping in the spring of 1941.
Any thoughts on that?

My guess is 1914-1915. It is wearing pre WW II Magnas.

A "V" prefix on a .38 Military & Police revolver indicates the piece was built in 1942-45 for the war effort.
V stands for Victory.
