...ok, I need someone to 'splain to me why I continue to buy 9mm handguns? I carry a SW99 40cal as my daily CCW and I have been known to carry a 45ACP too. That said, I have always had my doubts about the 9mm as a SD weapon, (do not want a caliber flame war) yet I currently own five assorted 9mm's and I am seriously looking at adding another. Why do I do these things? WHY! Is it because I have a disease? What is it?! :D

Yes, it is a disease, and I'm sorry but it is terminal - there is no cure.

I am actually very fond of the 9mm. I own "a few" handguns, 90% of them are in 9mm. They are relatively inexpensive to shoot, easy to shoot, and with hi-cap mags you can cary a boatload of ammo.

I have no problem with the "stopping power" of the 9mm. As long as you are using good quality hollow-points, the so-called "stopping power" of any of the common self-defense calibers (9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP) is too similar to be of any real consequence in the real world.

Enjoy your "nines", and shoot the crap out of them.

Because they are fun to shoot, don't beat you up and save $ on ammo?

Dave nailed the reason. Shooting handguns accurately and quickly requires much training, reinforcement of good habits and frequent practice sessions. After you no longer are using the .22LR training pistol, the 9mm just makes sense for all the reasons Dave stated. ...... Big Cholla

I prescribe you buy a 3913 and call me in the morning. ;)
