I've spent decades roaming the woods, ticks don't bother me, copperheads do.
I despise ticks.....but it seems spraying my clothes down with permethrin keeps the ticks at bay. As for the copperheads and rattlers I just watch where I step and place my hands & so far so good.
Ticks, snakes and other unsavory creatures are just part of being outdoors.....there's more to enjoy while hunting, hiking etc..than things to be worried about. Heck, I'm more concerned about being robbed or hit by a bus in a metro area than stuff you run across in the woods.
