I ordered a M&P9 and now I read about all the accuracy issues. Wonderful!

8 to 10 inch groups at 15 yards. There are quite a few threads on various forums describing this. I just hope it is just Internet mumbo jumbo. A few people complaining getting a lot of attention. Not saying they are not having issues, just squeaky wheels.

Yes, what accuracy issues? Mine is way more accurate than I am. Lol.
I bought a new full size M&P 9 at a local shop/range. Took it into the range, load it up..bang, bang, click. Failure to fire. Pulled the trigger striker goes forward nothing happens. Clear it and figure it might be the reloads I was running (I had about 3000 of them through my Glocks with no problem though). Bang, click. Rack the slide...bang, bang. click. This went on for another full mag. Its a sick feeling pulling the trigger and hearing that click.
I pick up my Glock 17 and run five mags of the same ammo as fast as I can with no issues. Just like with the previous three cases I had shot through it.
The shop guys saw all this as it happened. To say I was pissed is an understatement. Never in my life have I had a new gun do something like that. I have bought hundreds of guns. They didnt have to do it but the store said they would give me credit and take the gun back and send it to Smith. I just took home $500+ in ammo.
Few months later they mention the gun came back from Smith saying they replaced the barrel. Maybe some weird head space issue or something I don't know. I know many thousands of people love them and they run perfect for them. But I also know I'll never buy another one.
I hope yours does what you need it to and you enjoy it.

Shoot it and enjoy it. I have three and never have had an issue with any of them. I shoot a M&P PRO 9mm in USPSA production, a M&P45 in Limited 10 and keep my first M&P, a FS 9mm, as a back up for the Pro should anything happen to it at a match.
The M&P 9mm FS probably has had approximately 2500 rounds through it since I bought in Jan 12 with only one problem. That problem was caused by when I switched the magazine release to left hand operation, in that position the magazines would not feed properly. Once changed back it never missed a beat.

The accuracy issues with the FS 9mm M&P are real. I'm sure S&W redesigned the barrel for a reason. You may get a good one or you may not,or it may be mediocre.Hilton Yam is running some tests over at the 10-8 site and you can read here:10-8 Performance: June 2012.
I have a FS Range kit model and it shoots about 4" at 7 yards and opens up from there.This is with common 115/124 FMJ standard pressure types of ammo.I did get some vertical stringing and shooting low 2-3" at 7 yards on slow fire drills.
My gun has the new style barrel and it shoots like ****.
I sent it back to S&W and they returned it saying it was in-spec and no repairs were needed. I don't know what their specs are but any of my other 9mm platforms will out shoot the M&P FS 9mm by a considerable margin.
I understand how some folks feel that it may be Internet banter since most folks don't really shoot handguns all that well.But some quality research will show that there is a problem with this particular variant(full size model).
KKM and Bar-Sto are working on barrels for a reason.I don't feel like spending more money on a product that should deliver 3-4" groups at 25 yards with most ammo types.
I'm going to run some more types of ammo and some 147s.Some folks report that the 147s are the most accurate.I'm curious as to why S&W used such a slow twist on both barrel types 1-18.75 and 1-24 when most manufacturers use a 1-16 twist for 9mm.Even KKM is using a 1-24 twist on the M&P barrel
I'm going to shoot some of my other 9mm service type guns with identical ammo and send the targets to S&W customer service for a follow up complaint and see what happens.
Three new S&W handguns and two have been stinkers.At least S&W replaced my BG38 revo with a new one and it has been reliable and a lot more accurate.

I have the M&P 9C and am holding 1.5 groups at 10FT. Pics to come next week.
I believe I made a great choice in going with the M&P and selling my G. Love the G but this fits my hand (paw, meat hook) so much better.

2" at 10 yards of hand. 3" at 25 yard from a rest. only thing different is i installed an Apex RAM and TFO sights.

Real issue in many M&P 9mm's? Yes... Did S&W redesign barrel? Yes... Do heavier grains (124, 127, 135 and especially 147gr.) run much more accurately than 115gr. even out of older barrel? Yes... Considering you just ordered the gun new, I'd say you're probably GTG, M&Ps are becoming more and more popular in competition shooting for a reason.

I usually shoot 9mm out of my M&P40 using an early style factory barrel. Initially I was getting 4" to 5" groups with wild flyers at 15 yards and they were about 5" low. Over time I got used to the sights and the trigger. I usually get out about every other week and fire about 200 rounds each time. I can consistantly hold a sub 3" centered group at 25 yards and 2" groups at 50ft. This is from a sitting position firing 10rds each time. I'm not doubting anyone but it seemed to take me a while to learn the proper trigger control with my MP.

Dry fire to get the handle on trigger pull. Try different ammo. I have a 9 compact and have no trouble. Try a higher grain 135 or 147. Find 147 accurate with less recoil. Try it it may help. Good luck.
Sarge, what do you plan to use your gun for? I have 6 M&P's now, love em all.. they have been great guns...

There's no accuracy problem with my M&P 9mm fullsize, thank you very much.
I have 9mm SW barrels I use in both my FS and C model MP40. I have not had any issues, both barrels fire much more accuratly than I am. I do not shoot for competition. I shoot because I like it and it is a great stress reliever. I did opt for Apex DCEAK, Ram and Trigger for the C. It really shoots like a dream now. I will likely do the same to the FS as soon as budget permits.
I think a lot of people confuse M&P "accuracy" - or what they think of as a lack of it - with their inability to handle the trigger. I like the pistol, but I am no great fan of the triggers.
My M&P357 is a pretty good shooter, but I had my doubts about that at first. It had a terrible trigger when I got it. I didn't do anything with the gun except shoot it, and I didn't realize how bad that trigger really was! If I bought a new M&P, I wouldn't even bother to fire it. You can tell everything you need to know about the trigger by just dry-firing the gun. I was just wasting ammunition until I got the trigger on the M&P sorted out.
If I wanted to do good shooting with an M&P, the first thing I would do is get the trigger tuned to something I can manage. In all the guns I have shot and/or been around, they seemed to shoot well enough to indicate they had pretty good barrels.
