I ordered a new Shield today....

I put a Hogue HandAll grip sleeve on mine, adds a little grip mass. Hard to slip on but some Windex lubricant helps, maybe heat it up in some warm water. Trigger not as good as a Kframe, but it breaks in some.

I had a Glock M36 and I didn't trust it. It had a jamming issue.
Had two "Glock" friends tear it apart, inspect, clean and lube it to no avail.

I ended up giving it to a friend who was aware of its issue.

My M&P .45 has worked flawlessly since day one. Hundreds of rounds before I ever cleaned out all the assembly lube and junk.

Decided I wanted another small .45 auto so for me the Shield was a no brainer.

Thanks. I put some rounds thru it and see how I like it.

Don't know if you want leather or kydex. I've got an owb kydex holster made by 'On Your 6 Designs' that I have been very happy with. I actually have several of their holsters and the execution of the design is very good, price is very reasonable and delivery was reasonable. I actually have several of their holster for numerous guns.

Thank you.
I'm thinking more like the kydex over the leather.
I will will check them out.

I have a DeSantis Mini-Scabbard for each of my Shields (9mm, .40, .45) and use the corresponding DeSantis double mag carrier.

Will the Shield .45 2.0 and the Shield EZ9 fit the same holster?

I use a Kramer pancake OWB holster and I am extremely happy with it. It's pricey at $126 but worth it.

If I'm not happy with the one I bought that's the one that will replace it.

I know you already made your choice but can't go wrong with Safariland ALS, I love mine and you can get them around $50.

De Santis mini scabbard my 9 and 45 both fit in the same holster just fine. You're gonna like that .45!!

I'm looking forward to getting it.

It was supposed to be here last Wed. I checked up on it Friday and it hadn't even been shipped yet. :(

This one and my M&P .45 are my only two semi-autos.

I saw a post where they were talking laser sights and I saw one that I liked but forgot to bookmark it and now I can't remember which one it was. It just mounted where the rear sight is.

I'll keep looking because I think I'd like to have one on this gun.

If you get a laser go with the green ones. They are more visible in daylight than the red. I have a red one on a 642 and it's great at night but almost invisible in sunlight.

I like both Kydex and leather, prefer Kydex for IWB and the look and feel of leather for OWB.
I already had a Desantis suede IWB in my holster drawer, I think it was for a G19 but it fits my .45 Shield well.

For an OWB, I hated to pay $100 plus for a new leather holster, but happened to see this Bianchi Shadow II on E-Bay for $39.95 shipped.
They are meant for a G36, but I took a chance and ordered it and it fits the .45 Shield like it was meant for it.

Thumb break paddle holster, can be worn in two positions, straight up and down or forward cant. These are new holsters in the factory packaging, not used ones.
Very comfortable, and I was wearing it concealed last week while walking the dog early in the morning, I just left my shirt out to cover it.
If anyone is interested they are sold on E-bay by a company called Brick City Concealment.

alien gear cloak belt holster

M&P .45 Shield 2.0

Should be here next week.

What OWB holster would you recommend?

Try alien gear cloak belt (not cloak slide) holster. The cloak belt
has neoprene backing and wont wear, and the cloak slide has leather backing and does wear. Also the pistol shells are interchangeable and you can change pistols that fit in the holster just by changing the shells. Just order the holster for your pistol for $45.88, then if you want to fit another pistol, the shells are only $15.88 each. Pretty good product. 30 day test trial also. Alien gear also sells the shapeshift OWB slide holster which is also very good. The shapeshift also has interchangeable shells but not as extensive as the cloak belt holster. There is also a paddle holster.

Shield 45 is a great handgun and a great shooter. Congratulations, you'll love it. If I get another one I'll lightly sand the texture a little bit, just a little rougher than I care for. Its a soft shooter.

Nothing wrong with a Glock either.

I didn't see any with built in Cant, every one I saw hung straight up and down, I've found forward cant makes the draw easier.
I suggest every new gun owner watch Hickok45's videos on you tube on the different holster designs, he made 2 of them, before you lay your money down. In less than 2 hours you will have a plethora of information to help you decide, which type and even some manufacturers to go to.
Don't get in a hurry it is so easy to plunk down on a bunch of holsters and you will find they are like new cars, as soon as you drive off the lot they depreciate a bunch so use the net to get the most information you can because so many have drawers full of holsters that they can hardly give away. I've used both types of IWB holsters one hangs straight, and I continually adjusted it to cant forward, and a couple of the double hangers with built in or adjustable cant IWB holsters. For me they are the most comfortable and I tend to forget I even have them on.
So in the long run you spends your money and takes your chances, and price is no guarantee of value.

PS if you get a kydex OWB holster try running your belt thru the loops so that your belt passes over the outside of the holster, you should find that it pulls your gun in tighter to your side which makes it less likely to print!
