Just came in from my private range from shooting the Shield in the rain. I have not shot it in a few months but carry it often. It was a after thought to go out after dinner and shoot the defense ammo out and reload fresh in. Took out a box of 50 FMJ. What a easy gun to shoot. It just puts them in their one after another. Even rapid fire stayed in the red at 10 yards. I tried limp wristing it and I could not get this gun to malfunction with any trick or piss pore shooting form I through at it. What a great little gun. Mine is still bone stock and I think it will stay that way. As much as I like night sights on all my other guns, the stock metal sights on the Shield are outstanding. Very rare these days.
This is why the Shield always gets recommended to first time gun buyers. Small and light enough to carry but large enough to shoot accurate. Great house gun, great CCW all for under $400.00 .

1st CCB of 9 shots of 124+p Golden Saber to come out of the gun in a few months. Gotta love the Shield.;)

Nice... And yes...
The Shield is probably the easiest 3" barrel Subcompacts I've shot.

Nice shooting. I love my two shields 9 and 40 they are with me every week at the range over 2000 rds each and not one problem

great gun

Got my wife the shield 9 and liked it so much I got myself the 40. We shoot them about every week with no issues and have made no upgrades.

How quickly were you shooting?

Started about 1 second for each shot and sped up the last few shots. I sped up because the group was extremely tight and you can see the last few are the spread out shots at 12 and 3 o'clock.

Try timed shots from the holster at 1.5 seconds from the surrender position (hands up).

Your groups are too small suggesting you aren't shooting quickly.

Speed is as important as accuracy in sd work: your pistols are sd not target firearms.

Get some plain cardboard unmarked silhouette targets and time your shooting.

That single pic was just a example of control and accuracy of the Shield and not any one training drill.

Been to Gunsite twice and was a sponsored IPSC shooter in the 1990's... ;)
These days I am a local RO and teach a CCW course.
I subscribe to the "cant miss fast enough" philosophy. That is what I teach in my CCW classes simply because too many AD happen and poor shooting forms are developed all in the name of "speed".
Speed is nothing without control and accuracy. Generally if groups fall outside the size of a tennis ball at 5-7 yards, I tell my advanced students they are shooting too fast. This is of course tailored to the experience level of the shooter. Its all about the blend of accuracy and speed in the end but I preach accuracy is paramount and I believe that safety is a by product of that particular philosophy.

I use my little Bodyguard as a example of how accurate small pistols can be with a proper shooting form even with rapid fire. I actually purchased the Shield to go along with the Bodyguard when I demo smaller carry guns along with my P938 which I carry every day. More first time shooters were showing up with pocket guns over the last 5 years so I purchased a few and grew attached to them myself. When the Shield came out, it was so popular and many were showing up at the range with them, I had to break down and buy one. Now it is the gun I recommend the most to first time gun owners looking to CCW. The Shield is more than competent enough to shoot a IDPA match.

What is yours in for service for?? Reason I ask is I have handled and shot over a dozen without any issues other than the occasion bulged brass cases from certain brands of ammo.

Hopefully once I get my shield back from S&W repair it'll shoot as good as yours.

I reminded myself of why I love my Shield last night. This is between 15 and 20 feet practicing defensive shooting, shooting as soon as I can reset. I love this pistol.
