My son's buddy Kenny came over on his bike tonight and offered to let me try it. So I took it for a ride around some farm country roads for about fifteen-twenty minutes. Nice looking bike, very quick, very smooth...but uncomfortable as HELL. I couldn't imagine riding one for very long. Will stick to my 1988 Sportster. :)

'Nuff said.

Sorry, I'm a sport bike guy and will take the GSXR. :p

G-Mac, I think the philosophy of the sport bike is that you get where you are going so quickly that you don't have time to get sore.;)

A good example of why ''tiered" licensing doesn't work. Any of todays 600cc four cylinder sportbikes is actually faster than a 1000cc four banger of 20 years ago. Any way faster than any 1200-1500cc Harley.

My Sportster is still in need of yet more parts again... And it's leaking yet again... And I'm due for a new belt... And she runs too rich from a bad jet kit install... No idea how to reverse that... Uck.

What carb?

Carb tuning/jetting is fairly easy. If yer running too rich at idle , turn idle mix screw in till it starts to die , quickly turn out , counting turns till it starts to die. Turn back in half the number ya turned out.

Jetting changes for mid-range and upper rev range is fairly easy too.

Never threw a leg over a crotch-rocket. If my '74 BMW ever wears out I'll think about it.

Yeah. Gixxers are kinda the torture rack of sportbikes.

..but they look cool.

Why not a mix of both worlds?:)
My "03 Deuce has never broken down, does not leak, and is all day comfortable. Fit and finish are amazing.
The '07 Honda ST1300 is fast, smooth, fast, handles like a dream and the hardbags pop off for the short walk into the hotel or B&B.
