I see S&W copied ...

The Ruger LCR is now coming out in 357 mag. Being introduced at the NRA Annual Meeting. I shot one last week, and it has brutal recoil. Even with the very nice absorbing grips. It's just too light to make shooting anything very powerful a pleasant experience.

I was wondering about that. It seemed like a .357 Mag in that small of a gun would be too much. I don't think I want to own, OR shoot one. LOL!

You would shoot .38spcl out of it to minimize pain and recoil while at the range and then carry .357mag as your man-stopper

I'm merely talking about the idea of a poly revolver it was Rugers idea and they made one FIRST period...!!!
The Bodyguard 38 does have a steel reinforced poly grip frame. The rest of the gun is steel or aluminum just like a #442 or #642. I'm not seeing how you can call it a poly revolver.

My F150 has some poly parts but you sure can't call it a poly truck.

What did Smith & Wesson copy? Well... It goes like this...

Ruger made a seriously ugly copy of the J frame.

Smith & Wesson made a seriously ugly copy of Ruger's seriously ugly copy of the J frame.

Any questions? :)

Did ruger come out with the LCR before charter arms started making the undercover with a plastic grip frame? If not then you could say ruger copied their idea. It doesn't really matter, unless they invented a material to make their guns with the actual design is what is important not the material it's made from.

Ruger used the basic ideas of Kel-Tec's pocket pistols and the Bodyguard for their Hard R guns so other than the polymer frames they are pretty much copies of existing guns. In the kel-tec case it can be debated which is better. I love my little kel-tec 380 and bought it over the ruger but that was before they did some tweaking. Now... I might buy the ruger.
