I was at the gun shot loading up on CCI Mini Mag 22s. I was checking out, and the counter guy who knows how my taste runs, says “Did you set the 69?” Why, no I have not. Let’s have a look.

Model 69. It’s used, with the box. Extremely nice condition, 98.5%. I gave it a thorough inspection, remembering all the negative comments about the new ones. I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. And the price was more than fair.
I’m over the lock. I’ll just get that out of the way right up front. It’s weird….since the lock is black, like they’re not ashamed of it, I’m ok with it too.
Visually, I like the black lock, hammer, thumb latch, screws, sights and trigger.
The trigger: Wow! Honestly. 2 pounds, 12 ounces single action. 9 pounds DA.
The grips feel good. The sights are centered, as is the barrel. The ratchet looks nice. I like the barrel marking : Combat Magnum. How cool! No barcode, no warning.

How’s it shoot? Pretty well, thank you. 5 shots in the 3’s at 30 yards off sandbags. 5 shots right at 2.5 inches at 50 feet, offhand.

Is it pleasant to shoot? I’ll just say it’s pleasant to see decent groups, well centered. I shoot 240 grain Magnums. This isn’t a sissy pistol. This thing doesn’t need a trigger job, nor new sights. I think I’ll shop around for a nice holster, and maybe develop a cast bulletproof load.

Well done, Smith and Wesson!
