I recently acquired 32 Hand ejector made in the 1920's.
In double action mode it seems to index and lock the cylinder just fine.

In single action mode when cocked, I can rotate the cylinder slightly and then feel it drop in to lock. It happens on all cylinders.

I've already checked gun parts and numrich. 'll check eBay next. any ideas?

I'll bet if you release the hammer and let it move forward ever so slightly into your waiting thumb you'll see it lock up.

I don't think that is happening in actual use. After firing a few rounds both single and double, I found crescent shape pieces of lead on the bench. The bullet is getting shaved due to misalignment.

This is very common in older and heavily used revolvers. The cyl ratchet teeth are slightly "upset" from use. But are simple to gently peen back into place and will be good again for years.

The gold plated cure and what the factory would do is replace the hand, which is a lot more work and not really necessary unless you shoot the gun heavily and/or in competition. So it's a personal choice only you can make.

If you try peening you can still always resort to a new hand.

If you want to see how to peen ratchets, just google or search in this forum for cyl carry up, there's many threads and posts about it.

Easiest sure fix is to replace both the cylinder star and the hand.

You probably wont need to do any fitting; the final travel of the cylinder is accomplished by the width of the hand, not the length.

Both parts have no doubt worn, so your best bet is to replace them both if you can find them.
