I was surprised by the number of 4014 pistols produced, are you?

Back in July I picked up a lovely little 4014. Although I had a 4013 back in '95, I had not seen a "blue 4013" before. Here is my post from July: My New 4014

After I got back my 4013 from my brother (it had been mostly sitting in his gun safe since I gave it to him back in Christmas '96), I took them both out for a little range time: Salt & Pepper at the Range

Earlier today, I received my letter from Roy Jinks about my little 4014 and was quite surprised to see the number of "units" that were produced. Now I know why I haven't seen one before, not many around.

Actually I'm surprised at the number of 550, I've often heard the count of 154 thrown out.

HG,
I think that # was for the 4054

I guess I was surprised because according to the SCSW 3rd Ed. (and Roy's letter), it was cataloged for almost three years. If it were a "one-year wonder" 550 would make more sense. I've got a letter coming right behind this one on my 4013, I think it was cataloged for around four years. Maybe there weren't that many 4013s either.

Anyway, I had never seen one before and was thrilled to get this one in 99% condition. The little guy shoots, too.
