Bigfoot isn't new. There have been stories and legends of Bigfoot for hundreds of years.

I've heard wood knocks on a snowy walk in the woods and based on how my dog became suddenly terrified like I've never seen I'm willing to bet it was no large woodpecker.

Hmmmm…..I keep an open mind about bigfoot, or skunk ape as it's often called in Oklahoma.
I have never seen a squatch…..but I have seen odd and suspicious footprints while hunting. Talking to some other hunters and farmers about it...it seems that at least for awhile there was something spooky roaming around the area for a year or so.
An older acquaintance of mine with lots of time hunting and fishing along the Cimarron river responded that "strange things wander the Cimarron river at night" and would not elaborate further.
My viewpoint being that if I see large hominoid footprints along the wooded edge of a plowed field where there ain't likely to be anyone stomping faux footprints to get media attention....then there is probably something large hairy and smelly in the shelter belt that heard or saw me coming and vamoosed as soon as it figured I was too close!
I never called the Sheriff or filed a report with the game ranger simply because of footprints. I did switch my hunting to elsewhere for a year or two.

Bought my land in vt in '86. It borders on two sides by the national forest. I can shoot right off my deck. Mine in the last piece of private land. I'm in the wilds on a very old class 4 Road a old town loop. I'm dead center of the state. I have killington ski 25 miles to the south and sugar bush valley 25 miles to the north. Dead center of the state surrounded by green.
On hunting trips as we walked down my vast trail something follows us from up on the ridge above us. When we stop it stops, when we go it goes.
I open the bolt on my rifle take the round out, put my scope on 24x power and scan the whole mountain side. I can't see anything but when we walk it walks. I can hear branches breaking. My road is the only access road. I had to go by me to get in there.
The blood curling screams sound like someone being skinned alive. There's another area there were the natives won't go in. They avoid it. Same thing the screams.
The first screams started with my bacon cheeseburgers. I noticed my woodstove smoke travels up to the top of my mountain, down to the northern section that drops off into a valley. So my cheeseburger smell must go that far too. In this valley on the edge of the drop off my son flying on his dirtbike spotted something tall and reddish color going into the forest. Going to fast to make it exactly out.
My neighbor and his kids make fun of us carrying handguns besides rifles.
One night after the hunt they stop by for hot chocolate and to chat. They were rattled beyond belief. They heard the screaming. The next night they all had handguns too. You need to hear this thing the hair on the back of your neck will stand up.

A size 12 boot for somebody that's only 5' 8" tall and 160 pounds is a bit much but my feet aren't all that big.

Along with Dracula, Leprechauns, Mermaids, Wolfman and so many others. Heck, I still don't believe in virgins, but that's a different story..........

I know a bobcat scream near you when your not expecting it will darn near make a person soil there drawers. Not to mention scare the heck out of dogs too. In my wanderings I have never seen any sign or seen a Bigfoot.
I've seen many bear but never have confused one with being something else. In my younger days forest fire fighting I always kept an eye out for strange prints, but never saw anything I couldn't identify. But who knows stranger things have happened.

Who knows? I spent many, many years in the woods, wilderness, boondocks. I have never seen a lion, bobcat or wolf.
Why would the Indians make up a story about this creature?
What if?
They live small family groups?
They cover their scat?
They bury their dead?
They avoid humans and roads as much as possible?
They don't want to hang out with us because they know how stupid we can be.
There is a lot we do not know.
