I would vote that the S&W Model 39-2 and the S&W Model 3913LS , with the Hogue rubber grips, are the two finest fitting pistols in one's hand you can find.
I have both.
I'm still trying to figure out how I can make that Hogue rubber grip narrower on my S&W 910S, so that it has the same width feel as the factory plastic one.

Yes, the 39 and 639 hammer interchange. They both have half-cock notches.
BTW, ALL TDA hammers will interchange. 3rd gen hammers however lack a half-cock notch and therefore could be categorized as "unsafe" on 1st gen pistols which lack the firing pin safety of the 2nd and 3rd gen models.

Don't waste your time.
I ground away on a set of Hogue O.E.M. rubber grips for my CS40/45. I never did get them to my liking. I finally gave up and modified a set of 457/4513/4516 delrin grips (Big Dog style) to fit and they are much better for concealment.
Just put a set of factory delrin grips (Straight or humpback) on your 910S. No modifications needed. They are O.E.M. for that pistol (910S).

None of the S&W hammers are made of stainless steel. It's my understanding that the machinable stainless steel that S&W used was not durable enough for hammers.
The earliest blue hammers are forged carbon steel.
The "silver" hammers that came next are also forged carbon steel but are "flash chromed" to give the look of stainless.
The third and final iterations are blue with hollowed out sides and are "MIM" (Metal Injection Molded).

I still have the factory grips for my S&W Model 910S. I'm not sure if they are straight or humpback.
What modifications did you do you DuPont Delrin grips exactly?

So, I could buy a S&W 39-2 hole in the hammer and have someone "flash chrome" it and I could put it on my S&W Model 639?

I would be concerned about the dimensional changes to the pivot hole and the sear notches.
You could also just steel wool the bluing off and polish the hammer. It would be a little less corrosion resistant than the bluing (but not much).
Answer to an earlier question: The earliest barrels I recall seeing had "9MM Parabellum" stamped on the chambers. The later barrels went to "9mm" and the newest barrel I have just says "9".
They all mean the same thing and I'm sure the change was nothing more than conservation.

Maybe I could just leave entire hole in the hammer blued and it would match the rear sight which is the only blued part on my S&W 639, or I could just have the part of the hole in the hammer that shows and have that "flash chromed."
I'm thinking the "9 MM" (which is on my (S&W 39-2 and 639) came first and then the "9 MM Parabellum" (which is on my S&W 910S). I assume just the number "9" is on the barrels of S&W's plastic pistols.

Thank you very much for your timely response.
Based on your great help, JohnHL, I have finalized orders for two new Ed Brown S&W 9 MM extended stainless steel safeties from Numrich Gun Parts and a S&W Model 659 bare stainless slide and barrel off of Ebay.
Soon I will have the parts to give my S&W Model 910S that rounded slide look.
I also purchased a S&W Model 39-2 hole in the hammer to put on my S&W Model 639.
When I get it all together, I'll post the pictures.

The bare slide you have pictured is an early 3906/5906 slide with Trijicon night sights. If that is the actual slide you get off of Ebay, that's even better - you can send the slide back to Trijicon to have the sights relamped for around $54. (Those sights will also work on the 915 slide.)

A couple of questions, though.
1st: Are you certain that slide is for a 659? (It looks like a late transitional 659 or a very early 5906 based on the sights.) Also, if it is the early 5906 slide it should have a pressed in bushing and will not work with the 659 barrel in the picture. More pictures of the slide, especially the front, would be helpful. If it is 659 then you would need the removable barrel bushing (not an expensive part). If the only other thing missing from the slide is the safety and not any internal parts, you should be OK.
2nd: Where on Numrich's sight did you find that Ed Brown safety? I thought those were sold out. Oh, and you will need the detent spring and plunger for the safety.

As I recall, the Uncle Mike's grips felt thinner than either the Hogues or
Pachmayrs.

I asked for pictures of the slide which was identified as a Model 659, but those pictures were either not goning to be forthcoming at all or in time for my decision making on the purchase. Knowing enough to be dangerous, I thought the seller was right in his identification. It appears that I was wrong and so was he. It certainly appears that, jsbethel, is right.
I had hope that I had purchased a slide that would have worked on both my Model 639 and Model 910S, but I have reconciled myself on that mistake and will make lemonade out of my lemon mistake.
When I get the slide I will know whether to buy a removable barrel bushing or trade my 2nd generation barrel for a 3rd generation barrel. I have already talked to my seller and he will trade barrels with me if I need to.
What internal parts could be missing from the slide?
I got the last two Ed Brown safeties at Numrich. I really lucked out on finding those two.
I'll start looking the detent spring and plunger now.

6 parts: Firing pin and spring; ejector depressor plunger and spring; firing pin safety lever plunger and spring.
With the rear sight still in place the plungers and springs are likely to still be there.
If indeed it is a 3rd gen slide and you can trade your barrel for a 3rd gen barrel, you will be better off. The fixed bushing on the 3rd gen slides brought an improvement in accuracy.

So the idea was to keep things thin (like the original polymer 1pc stock), checker them in a fine but effective and, just as importantly, traditional format (this too, was unique for generally "rubber" or synthetic grips could not be textured in this manner), and fit them together with sort of overlapping and engaging tabs.

Hard to say on the firing pin. The next step in disassembly after removing the safety is removing the firing pin.
Many people, myself included, tend to find the fixed bushing pistols group a little tighter.
