Little help to ID a gun, I'll do my best to describe smith and Wesson 45 C , cylinder comes out to the side with number only 1588 behind yolk. 45 hand ejector, serial number 17107. Barrel is at least 4 inches sorry gun is not with me. Sights are fixed. Gun has pearl looking grips and above a faded emblem says "trade"

Move to S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 instead of ANTIQUES. Looks like it might be a 1st or 2nd model hand ejector but something is hokey there. It might be a bad refinish or a Spanish copy but I cannot tell.
Take some better pix. and post over. Take pictures of BOTH side of gun with cylinder closed and hammer down. Take another and another of the face of the cylinder, bottom of barrel (with cylinder open). to show ID numbers. Take the grips off and take close up pix of both the left and right side of the frame flats under the grips.
The crew will check in and help you out.

Not exactly sure what you have. At first I thought maybe a model 1917 Army that someone converted to .45 Colt. Regardless of what it is, the conversion was not done by S&W as the .45 Colt stamping is not factory quality. The finish and stocks are also not original so basically the gun is a shooter grade .45 Colt with no collector value. As a shooter, assuming it functions, it is probably a $200 gun as is.
As model3sw stated, more photos from all sides are needed. Without having the gun in hand, photos are a must.

I suspect it is/was a .455 Mark II (Webley) second model Hand Ejector made for British service during WW I, then modified as noted above. You should find it has a 6.5" barrel.
Several methods were used to convert these to fire the longer, thicker rimmed Colt round, the best being lengthening the chambers and slightly counterboring the chamber mouths. If this was done you should still see the 17107 on the rear cylinder face.

Agree with m. .455 altered to .45 and polished up real shiny for nickel plating and pearl handles. Woo, woo.
I believe Murphydog has nailed it. It pretty much has to be a. 455 Mark II in order for it to be converted to 45 Colt. It's been plated as well as modified, so at best it's a shooter.
