It appears to be an N frame something. Can you tell us what caliber is identified on the right side of the barrel? Also, what is the number that is stamped on the bottom of the grip frame, where that lanyard ring is attached?

From features, manufactured 1930-36. Probably a .44 Hand Ejector Third Model (Model of 1926) or .38-44 Heavy Duty depending on the round for which it is chambered. Lanyard loop may or may not be original. The front sight has been modified.

Just to make sure it is not a put-together gun, check the numbers stamped on the inside of the ejector rod shroud, the rear face of the cylinder, and the butt. If the number on the butt has been destroyed by the lanyard loop, take off the stocks to see if was transferred to the left side of the grip frame.

Is the gun blue or nickel? It's difficult to tell from that lighting. Also, please let us see the right side of the gun and a closeup of that front sight. Interesting grips too, so I'd like to see more of them, inside and out.

My first guess is that it is a "half target" Triple Lock. Perhaps like this 4" one.

Yep, David was right. It is a Third Model (aka M1926). With those grips, it most likely was shipped to Wolf & Klar. Let us see the insides of the grips and we can be more certain.

Should be 1928-29 period from SN - probably went to Wolf & Klar in Ft. Worth TX
