I just inherited a 38 special revolver. I was told it was a "trooper special". It has s & w 38 special ctg on the 4" barrel. It looks like the revolver on the main page of the forum, but it is obviously older and is not nickel. The serial number on the butt plate and under the barrel is 620026. Can anyone help?

a picture would help, alot. is there a "D" or "C" or "S" in front of the serial?
does it look like the one pictured in this thread?

A serial number of 620026 would indicate a gun made approx. 1929 - 1930 if there is no letter in front of the serial number on the butt. You need to move this the the 1857-1945 forum for the best feedback.
