I got this on a trade 2 days ago. Its serial number is AZD0xxx. I am wondering if its a LH The Classic Hunter as described on the bottom of page 201 in The Standard Catalog. Also any idea on the cylinder release? Looks like an aftermarket to me. How tough to replace with a factory piece? Thoughts on approximate value, no box.

This looks to be a 6" Silhouette version, with the four-position front sight. The cylinder latch is definitely not factory, but if you find an original replacement and have the correct screw it pops right on. It probably shipped in the spring of 1988 or so.

not debating this but just curious how you know. In the Standard Catalog (pg400) I see no listing for any serial numbers beginning AZD, in fact I find no reference to a second letter of Z at all. I have another 29 that begins BCA and I cant find any listing of that sequence either. If I could figure out their crazy system I wouldnt have to ask going forward
