S&W hand ejector 38 spec., no model #, serial # K 410XX, 6 inch pinned barrel, post-war adjustable sights, 5 screw and strain screw. This a blued gun with RH target grips which have a very high pronounced thumb rest unlike any I have ever seen. There is a ring on the cylinder which I would expect for a target gun. The bluing is good, bore looks good, no rust anywhere.

I know pics would help but I don't have any at this time. From some of my research based on serial # I think it may be from around 1948-49 era. Any help appreciated.

You have a K-38 Masterpiece from 1948. It should have the tapered barrel and narrow rib.

Your description of the stocks would indicate some aftermarket brand. No possible way to identify them without pictures.

It is also difficult to estimate a price, but from your description $500 would not be out of line, in my opinion. If I saw the gun, I might change my mind. :D

That SN would suggest shipment in late 1948. It is very unlikely yours left the factory with target grips. If it has them, probably they are aftermarket custom. And there is no model number, just Masterpiece.

Two things necessary to estimate value:
1. Condition. Usually expressed as percentage of blue remaining. Photos help.
2.. Grips. Aftermarket grips can increase or lower the value, depending on who made them and condition. Again, we need photos.
