Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong area in the forum but I could not find it. Any help will be appreciated. I am trying to find out more about my handgun. I have a S&W model 657 (I do not see a dash) .41 magnum 3" barrel.
Serial #ANN17xx It also has what appears to possibly be combat grips(rounded with finger grooves and medallion)? My actual pic would not upload but it looks just like this. On the arm it has the letter "S" sideways. Below that are the digits B18. Above the "S" is five digits, 22444
Possible value or collectable?
Thank you very much, Eagle22

It was probably shipped in 1988 and is a Lew Horton (large gun distributor) special order gun. Somewhere between 150 and 300 were made, so it is a rare gun. Enjoy!

Thank you very much. How can a person tell if this is a Lew Horton? Approx. value ranges on this? Any ideas? Than you gentlemen for your time.

If it is in its original configuration, only Horton offered this gun. You may be able to call them for more information.

They don't come up for sale often, but try completed sales on the major gun auction sites and see if you find one.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree it's a Lew Horton "special". The first batch of model 657 3" guns were a standard offering - and 5490 of them were made.

I've attached a letter for one of them.

I have one, and it's a great gun - but it wasn't a special order for Lew Horton.

Take care,
Bob S.

Thank you very much for all the information gentlemen. It is very helpful. Thank you for your time and the letter/picture.

If you go to the bottom of the Lew Horton home page there is an email for questions about the Lew Horton products. I emailed them and gave them the serial number of my gun with a description. They emailed me back confirming that my gun was a Lew Horton with a date, and production number.
Welcome to Lew Horton's
