Not sure exactly what info you're looking for, but that gun probably shipped from the factory in late 1953 to early '54. After about 1958, those became the Model 27.
It's an N or large frame revolver, at the time called "The .357 Magnum" (being the first gun in that chambering gives you bragging rights ). It has the most sought-after barrel length and what appears to be the original wood stocks. Definitely agree with keeping it! Hope this is helpful.
Yes it's all original !
I know some of its history to. From being thrown across Burbon st in NO by some sailors to being used as a club on a bootlegger in bryam ms. Also using the business end during the civil rights marches in Jackson ms.
Thanks y'al.
I'm thinking of paying the 50 to s&w for the sales.
I don't know that he bought it 1st.
I think he may have "traded a favor" for it.
LEO back then lived by street justice.
Thanks y'al.

Be aware that the factory letter will, nearly always, provide only where the revolver was first shipped, such as to a sporting goods store or other retailer, an S&W distributor, etc. - and not to the first retail purchaser. So don't be too disappointed if the factory letter falls somewhat short of your expectations.
