...you could sure do worse for a "Combat Handgun"!
Maybe not something you could carry on you hip everyday, but if it's your home defense choice you'd be well armed without a doubt!

I know these aren't as "tactical" as a Glock or Kimber but a Mod 25-2 in .45 ACP or a Mod 27-2 in .357 Mag wouldn't leave you "underguned' in case of emergency now would it?

I hope not as these are my answer to the things that go bump in the night, along with a good flashlight and a reload or two!

My favorite 'combat handgun' is a model 58. I love the 4" .41's. Next up would be the 57 or 657 Mountain Gun. One of the above always graces my nightstand

I've got one N-frame and I'm still adjusting the sights, but in a hallway, I'm guessing I could hit a bad guy and let him know our welcome party is in place!

Sir, FWIW, this .45, two speedloaders, and a big Mag-Lite resided in my nightstand drawer for many years. For a short time, it was my only handgun; for a long time it was my only revolver and only Smith.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

I feel pretty secure with my 25-13 45LC mountaingun. I have changed the grips to a set of Ahrend boot grips and put an XS bigdot front sight.

And why can't you carry it on your hip everyday? The next question should be which one of the N-frames to use.

N frames have always been made in serious calibers. Even the neglected weakly of the bunch, the 38/44s, if used with honest to God 38/44 ammo is plenty dangerous. If the intended target is human, an N frame will do the trick. Its more capable than 99 out of 100 shooters.

I dunno... I carry my M-21 TR in a Galco Silhouette daily

Strangly enough... I had a guy ask me if I was a bounty hunter tonight.

Have and love me a bunch of N frames. Secondary advantage: you can smack the taste right out of somebody's mouth with the barrel, and then part their hair on the other side on the backswing.

If an N frame was all you had ...

It would be a 44 Magnum, loaded with Mag safe rounds for home defense. 240 gr.J.s p.s for hunting. And loaded with 44 special cowboy action loads for the range and practice.

Of course, this could be duplicated with any N frame magnum. A model 25-5, 45 Colt would Do.Or a model 57, or a model 27.

Thanks ,,now I'm going to have nightmares tonight about owning just ONE N frame.
Hope you're happy ......

I love my 25-13. It sends a big heavy hunk of lead downrange that will certainly take the wind of of a BG's sail. Ditto for my 92 year old .455 Hand Ejector. They may not be tacticool, but they'll kill an attacker just as dead as the latest plastic wonder.

I could make do fine and feel very well protected with "just" an N frame S&W....

If things go bad, as they sometimes do, revolvers may be the only civilian choice for home and self defense.

I plan to carry my 4" 29-2 this winter, once I buy an appropriate holster for it. The Blazer .44 Special Gold Dots should do just fine, at least as well as any reasonable .45acp load.

If all I had was an N-frame, I'd try to get a couple K-frames in place of it.

If it gets that bad in our country, (let's hope it never does) where I could only have one, a 625 MG in 45 Colt would work out very well. I'd have to have it's baby brother too; the 625-11.
