Howdy,

Figured I would post up a special limited run of 200 or well at least 1.

The gun came from Mr. Jeffrey Allen lash's collection (Google the name)(allegedly)and the mag belonged to Jerry Miculak(I have it on good authority that this is factually true)..

The gun shoots like a dream. I'm very accurate with her and only having about 175rds down the tube it shall only improved, not bad for a .40S&W.

If you happen across one of these don't pass it up despite being in .40S&W

Enjoy

Cool factor is extremely high! This was back in the PC days where it almost seems like the crew at the Performance Center weren't yet totally sure exactly what their focus would be. Unlike the PC models that are the most popular today (952, 945, PPC-9, Shorty-series) some of these different ones weren't made in volume and I sure wish they had.

You talk about a gun that nobody else is going to have on any range you might visit? That's a perfect example.

The vintage Black Talon ammo looks fantastic next to a stainless pistol!

SWEEeeeet................

Not a .40 guy but that would pair nicely with my PC DPA-5906 and SD-9.

Wish I'd bought more, and kept a couple I traded away, of those 90s Performance Center Autos. While I knew they weren't made in large numbers..........always figured like the Beretta Elite models they numbered in the thousands.

There is one for sale near me. I’ve been wanting to replace my 5906tsw, but why not.
Just to divert a little confusion... a 5906TSW was the evolution of the 3rd Gen 5906, that's a production gun with a tactical light rail and billboard text on the side of the slide, many of these were built and shipped to LE organizations. The 4006TSW is basically the same thing but in .40cal and lately, many of these have hit the market as they are formerly issued and recently released California Highway Patrol service guns.

The subject gun in this thread is nothing whatsoever like a 5906TSW or 4006TSW. The .40 Tactical is a hand-fit gem from the Performance Center that predates the TSW production guns by 7+ years, and only a few examples were made while the TSW production guns were made in the tens of thousands, if not more.

The market for the .40 Tactical would put it (arguably) 3x to 5x the price of a 4006TSW.

What is the serial number series of your 40 Tactical?

That is a sweet pistol.

I think folks are foolishly dismissing 40 these days.

In my opinion, 40's recoil is along the same lines of some of today's hot duty ammo. It really isn't a hard to handle cartridge as some folks would have you believe.

That would probably be my favorite 40 as well if I owned it.

Nice catch.

Felt recoil is an extremely personal deal and I’d caution anyone to try and make any blanket statements in any direction. I was reminded of that last summer when I first sent .40cal down range from my new-to-me S&W Model 646. 6-shot, L-frame, full lug .40cal with titanium cylinder. Not awful, but a thumper! :D

That would be PCD0141......

Why do you ask ?

I have s/n PCD0194 and was always a little confused as to what model it was. I knew it was a very early PC example but it didn't quite match the Standard Catalog's, both 3rd and 4th editions description of the 40 Tactical. The SC describes the 40 Tactical as having a 5" barrel, a Tritium night front sight and a black slide. As you mentioned our pistols have a 5 1/4" barrel, mine has the night front sight and ours don't have the blackened slide. That's what caused my confusion. Perhaps the Standard Catalog is mistaken, so I'm grateful to you for the model identification.
