If she could talk .40 Tactical

Two Types of .40 Tact

I have s/n PCD0194 and was always a little confused as to what model it was. I knew it was a very early PC example but it didn't quite match the Standard Catalog's, both 3rd and 4th editions description of the 40 Tactical. The SC describes the 40 Tactical as having a 5" barrel, a Tritium night front sight and a black slide. As you mentioned our pistols have a 5 1/4" barrel, mine has the night front sight and ours don't have the blackened slide. That's what caused my confusion. Perhaps the Standard Catalog is mistaken, so I'm grateful to you for the model identification.

There are two types of .40 tacticals. First is the PCD prefix, the older all stainless version. There two product codes for this pistol, 104401(can be found in the standard 4006 section of 4th Edition) and 170020, which can be found toward the back of the 4th Edition in Lew Horton prefixes. See first link.

The second, the FTC prefix "National Firearms Training Center" with black slide and "Performance Center Tactical.40" billboard. Product code 170091 See post #70 in second link.

What's your WOW! 9mm? (Or .38 special)?

Quite honestly I wouldn't mind having a comp-40 (that case is really neat) either... I ran threw all of the .40 ammo I had....

The sights on mine are just standard novak white dots, nothing spectacular...

I love the look of the Tactical .40, the two-tone gun. It reminds me of my 745's. I battled to $1,100 for one on Gunbroker and lost out.

I know what you are thinking, "$1,100?!?!" But alas... that was probably 5 years ago, haha.

There was another Performance Center .40cal that was offered in an old-school briefcase, the case just screamed 1980's, I mean it was just plain tacky and dated looking, but it was a whole package. This was one offering that I have seen but I can't really think of how to search it.

Has anyone seen or knows of what I'm referring to?

Thanks for the links, Joe.

The S&W Flyer for the 40 Tactical pictured mine exactly confirming the model. I am familiar with the Tactical 40, since I also have an example of it. Both are great shooters.

Thanks again,
Carmine

Man, I hope someone digs one up. Brother, this rig was homely! Then again, been a good long while since I’ve seen it.
