If you ask for dates, at least say thanks!

i say please and thank you all day long. it doesnt hurt to do it and is sometimes much appreciated. i taught my kids also to do so.

I guess if we are all cranky enough, we could all agree to give one of these standard responses:

1. S&W has no record of a build date.
2. The only reliable way to obtain a ship date is to: (1) request a factory letter from Roy Jinks; or, (2) join the S&WCA and request it in the members only portion of the forum.*
3. Purchase a copy of SCSW 3rd like we all did and you can learn about S&W in the process if you read it.

:)

*I realize customer service could look it up by computer, at least for more recent guns, but if the poster does not know that, why tell them. It will generate more calls to an already overburdened customer service center.

That said, I agree, polite behavior by "please" and "thank you" works better.

Somebody gave me a date recently, I made sure to send a thank you in a PM. So don't assume because there is no thank you post, that no thanks was given.

I have noticed that getting a date on a S&W revolver is tricky. There are no online resources. Ruger has a list on their web sight.

I have seen were people have asked here for dates and get a reply to go and buy the book and look it up. For somebody who has only one revolver he is interested in that is just not a good option.

Also if somebody thanks you in advance when they ask, is a thank you still needed after the answer is given?

After asking a few questions on dates, I did #3 and am very happy about the purchase. That thing is a wealth of info. Unfortunately, it has now fueled my desire to get a low more S&Ws into my gun safe :)
Thank you to everyone on this forum who contributes their knowledge to the forum!

I send a "Thank You" to all of those who have helped me in the past and also to those who will help me in the future.

Your knowledge, help, and assistance with all things S&W are appreciated!

Edmo

One of the forum members looked up a few S&W dates for me not long after I joined the forums - I do appreciate how the older hands here help us newbs.

Unfortunately don't have a lot of info to contribute as S&W's aren't my main interest, but I always try to post pics of my revolvers here as I know that's what folks like around here. :)

Thanks again guys,

I did! Now I'm ready to help too! Most of the time, someone's beaten me to it, since I limit my time online.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past and look forward in the future for help too.
Me too.
