If you could only have 1 J frame, what would it be?

As I mentioned in Post #69, my choice if I were limited to a single J-frame (or maybe even to a single handgun) my Model 60-4 would be a strong contender. I just picked up this Tyler T-Grip recently and stuck it on with an old pair of faux ivories I had laying around. I'm not sure yet whether I prefer them over my Thai ebonies, but they make an interesting look, and I can switch back and forth as I wish!

I'm satisfied with my 60 no-dash, my only J frame I would consider to meet the SD/CC criteria set by the OP; however, my .22 LR Model 63 Kit Gun is my favorite plinking revolver.

Am I the only one to carry a 342 Ti? I also have an 36 that I just bought and it is a no dash.

Nope, i think it's the perfect carry 38! Which puts it high in the running for perfect carry J frame

Tough choice for me. I have a 340sc and a 442. I guess if I "had" to choose it would be the 442. I love both of those guns though.

that sure looks like a baby chief to me....smooth or serrated ramp?

The ramp front sight is serrated and it has the small trigger guard. I'm not sure if it's a chief special or baby chief.

It is a Chiefs Special but it is also a baby chief. That is a 1st style flat latch. If you go to member Hondo44 blog page http://smith-wessonforum.com/blog.php?u=134353 it will give you an idea of what you have and when it was made. I have the same gun, except that it is a smooth ramp front sight, which preceeded the serrated ramp front sight. If you put up the serial number, someone will come up with an approximate shipping date.

I put it at 1952 based on the serial number

Living in Florida, where men sweat (women glow), the gun has to be stainless or some other rust-free material.

For me that would be either my 642-1 or my 638 (both no-lock) because of their resistance to rust and light weight.

Probably would go with the 638 for the rarely needed or used ability to fire single action.
