don't leave the top down with your garage door clicker on the sun visor. Wife was at the grocery store and when she got home she could not open the garage door. She drives a PT Cruiser convertible. While she was in side, someone took the garage door opener. We called the police just to get it on record, then I had to re-program the opener and all the remotes. Going to talk to their security people today and see if their cameras have anything of vaue on it.

Probley some kid who thought he,d be cool like the same type that bend aerials, however you cant count on it.
I bought a brand new truck, came out the next morning to find the gas cap off and "Dont you just hate people with new trucks?" wrote on the side with toothpaste. That put me in a sweat thinking I needed the tank pulled and cleaned! Somehow the dealer thought I was okay.

I have read of thieves hanging out at movie theaters, watching the people go inside, checking their cars for visible garage door openers, breaking into the car to get the home address via car registration and taking the opener as a key into the house. They know how long the movie is & they have a good chance of being long gone by the time you get home.

Just something to think about regarding garage door openers, convertible or not.

Along the same lines, don't program your GPS with your real home address. It can be stolen along with your garage door opener and the thief has your home address, and access to your garage. You do lock your house door from the garage don't you?

The insistence of the authorities in the US that you carry the registration and other documents showing your address in your car has been a thorn in my side since I got here. I cannot imagine a more obvious breach of my personal security. After some of the ID theft cases aorind here and what the OP describes, maybe it is time for a lock box in the vehicle to store such documents.

Parking in the driveway with an opener or pre-programmed home link system is an invitation to a thief. I always use the switch to disable the garage door from the inside. I don't like the idea of a 'key to the garage' being left in the parked car outside (I don't park in the garage).

we have no courts in this land for sense, justice nor morality. We have courts of law upholding and extensive array of scribblings from legislators past and present, each elected in a state sanctioned popularity contest.

Those type laws have a lot to do with, un, collecting extra taxs? (Fines).

She called me when she got home while she was walking through the house. She looked out into the street and did see a strange car slowly going arund the block. That was my concern that he waited for her to leave and followed her to see where we live.

thats a job for a 308 easy button and get the remote back:D

Leave access to your garage (home?) on the visor? Duh???

Yes, I drive a convertible and usually leave the top down when out and about. However, there is nothing readily accessible that is: a. Valuable; b. Readily stealable; or, c. Something I cannot live without.

For some posters questioning registration requirements, I know of no law(s) that require said documents to be IN your ride. You must present them, upon, request, for sure.

Be safe.

Exactly! I carry registration, and ins. cards for Pu truck, car and Motorcycle in my wallet. My wife has copys in her purse. Leave them in the car? FUGEDAHBOUTIT! I don't care what the law says.
