On the other hand, both places are not too far from you.

Over the years, three of my four children have brought their families down from NY during this event, and they loved it, especially their kids. The Kidsphere portion is staffed by enthusiastic students from the Governor's School for the Arts, and was a big hit with the grands.

When we lived in the Midlands we frequently took day trips to Greenville for their festivals like this one and just to spend the day walking around downtown. Loved that area. A nice top down drive was just a bonus.
And I agree; for those in the middle, being a couple hours from mountains in one direction and the ocean/Charleston in the other were a huge benefit.
