This subject keeps going round and round and round. All you have to do to permanently disable the IL, while keeping the gun's appearance 100% stock, is grind the locking tab off the "flag". Once the hammer is removed, the "flag" pulls right out. A file or dremel makes quick work of the tab. The only (slightly) tricky part of the job is getting the flag reinstalled properly. The end of the tiny spring on the back has to slip into the hole in the frame. That's why there's a small cutout at the bottom of the flag: put the tip of a pin, or equivalent, through the cutout and guide the spring as you slip the flag into place. Here's a before and after pic.
