Illinois FOID Card

I applied for a renewal of my FOID card June 1 and received the new card today. The State Police are supposed to issue the card in 30 days, so in spite of Illinois’ dire financial situation the issuing agency did their job on time.
For all you folks who live in less regulated states, a FOID card is needed for purchase of guns and ammo in Illinois if you are a resident of the state.

My Illinois residency expired 2013.
So glad I left that corrupt, liberal and 3rd world bound state.

Seems like an odd requirement. To buy a long gun and take it home, he would have to show the FOID. A handgun would have to be shipped to an FFL in IL, who he would show the FOID to take possession.

Maybe they are just using it as a filter to eliminate people who just want to play with them with no intention of buying?

How nice! They give you a card to carry in your wallet as a reminder that your name is on a list at the state capitol.

One of the happiest days of my life was the last time I saw Illinois in my rear view mirror(1995)! I kept my last FOID and pull it out and laugh on occasion!
