I've swapped out the sights on M&P pistols numerous times, so I'm not a rookie but I played one tonight. In my excitement to put the Trijicon HD sights on my Shield, I forgot to remove the set screw and drove it right through the slide. Damn, that's one strong screw!! Remember kids, remove that set screw. At least it's only cosmetic [emoji52]

Well, at least you can say that you will never forget the screw again.

ouch!! just make another one of those notches on the other side so it looks like its supposed to be there :p

All I can do is sympathize, not with your specific knuckleheaded move, but I've made several others. And so have most others here, I suspect. You sure ain't alone! Some of my deals ain't near that easy to ignore ... sigh!

I've seen that before, and was able to repair it. Takes a small spot weld, file, paper and stone to recover the OEM contour. Then a nice coat of CERAKOTE Graphite Black, reassemble, and smile at the customer, telling him "nobody's any the wiser" hahaha

I'd say that was more a shovelhead move - you dug out a nice row on that slide.

: )

Just label it as a "mental hiccup" and move on. We've all had them, and no one was hurt this time.

And thanks for the reminder.

Big question is how do you like the new sights??

The sights are great! Just mad at myself for missing something so simple. Then again, I've been doing a lot of work on Glocks and I don't have to remember to remove these silly extras like a set screw [emoji12]
