My friend Lisa has a 3 month old female kitten she needs to get shed of and wants me to have her. the kitten is already potty trained, sois aplus.I cant hardly wait to take custody--which will be about mid October.

I don't have a name picked out for her-so am open for suggestions. Im thinking of Jenniffer, Susie, or and any good name. Ill make it a contest of sorts and the winner will get some kind of prize-so this contest of sorts will go on fromnow till costody-time and winner will be notified by PM.

Anyway,as Lisa loves cats as much as I and we "cat" people do-it's difficult for her to let this one go. This one I THINK is tiger-striped??? but cute as all get all. Maybe ill add the name Tiger--to the choice??

What do yall think???

Also, this kitty is NOT a replacement for Shasta--and no amount of futiure cats will ever replace her-Shasta was a one of a kind and she fills my heart. I just need another companion.

I suggest High Pockets.

A friend once name my freshly acquired young cat that. High Pockets was a good cat. However, I did not learn about the WW II underground hero who used that name until reading about her in a current Lounge thread.

The new kitty is lucky to get such a good home.

Congrats on the pending new companion.
Every cat we've had has been a one of a kind. They all have their own little personalities.
None have ever been a replacement.
Anyway, one way I've found to name a feline companion and give it an interesting name is to find the work "cat" in another language.
In Japenese it's Neko, Blackfoot's Natayo, Cherokee's We-sa (pronounced way-saw), etc...
That is if the cat didn't already come with a name.

Ringo,
Here's a thought for you.
I know you like the movie Stagecoach with John Wayne as the Ringo Kid.
Well I did a quick internet search and found out that his co-star was Claire Trevor and her character's name was "Dallas".
Therefore I would suggest "Dallas" which can have a double meaning.
Trevor's character in the movie stagecoach or the city of Dallas because I assume you are from Texas.

Good for you Carl!! I agree that the new kitten should in no way be intended to replace Shasta. She will always hold the No.1 place in your heart. But you can still give a lot of love and have another good friend and companion. No such thing as too many friends or limits on how many pets you can love.

My Frito will always be my No. 1 but our current bunch are special too in their own ways and are well loved....and mostly obeyed.

It would help if we could see a pic of the new kitten. I try to pick a name that suits the animals personality and appearance. And I try to avoid worn out common names. Blackie, Snowball, TIGER...Get it? Good. ;)

You have already seen what she looks like and maybe even spent some time around her so that will help as well. If not you might hold off a bit until you see what she's like.

All this said it doesn't really matter a great deal. Surely you know that cats don't comprende' names. Right? Still I think all pets should have names if only to please people.

Again, congratulations and good luck!

Good for you. :)

Name from John Wayne's cat in True Grit: General Sterling Price

or the lighthearted: Cat Ballou

My Dad took on a stray cat, that after a small fortune in vet bills, decided to put up with us for a while. He called her "Pretty Kitty", I called her "Stupid Kitty", so at the vet I suggested "Pretty Stupid Kitty". I too was recently talked into a ladyfriends cat, the things we do............:D
Sunny is his name. Pretty cool cat, lol.

Carl, this is great news and we are all happy for you! If you can't get a picture, it would help to know color or maybe you can find a pic on the internet that looks similar. I like many of the suggestions so far.

Good for you Carl!

I will be of no help for cat names, as I have always needed to meet the cat before giving them one....or in some cases having them tell me!

Ralf, our rescue kitty, told me hers. She was by my car one morning and came over to rub up against my legs. I asked what her name was and that was her response!
