Carl:

I am so happy that you finally have your new kitty!! I know that up here at the cabin that Bella and our newest, Lucky, are a real joy. I know that we will all have lots of advice for you, pet lovers can't help themselves. I guess we like to share experience the same way that we do with our firearms lore.

I'm sure that we all are wishing you the best with the little one.

Lucky has been here with me now for almost 4 weeks, and he is a great companion for both me and Bella. I'll see if I can find a recent picture of both of them. Bella showed up here as a little lost kitten herself a year ago in September, and was on,y 4 or 5 weeks old when she started meowing outside my cabin door.

Folks wanted to know why I call her Bella....the answer is simple: "Because that was her name!!". I think you will know what your kitty's name is soon.

Best Regards, Les

Thank you Les, and Bella-looks quite a lot like the older kitten that was-only the kitten had long hair like Shasta did. That younger one is cute as all get all. :D I was just so used to having Shasta around-that I guess I forgot that cats differed in personality and behaviors.

When I first rescued Shasta back in May 1994, she was only a few weeks old. She had to stay outdoors as I had a roommate that was a grumpy fuddy duddy and wouldn't allow the cat to be indoors. So-till I moved out in Aug 08-Shasta had to endure the outdoors (most of the time) for that time period. After that, she was permanently an indoor kitty.:D

I still want another kitten, but management rules dictate I cant have another, but I'm thinking of breaking their stupid rule.

Well I too am happy for both you and your new pal. How about SANDY or SANDIE for her name? Just a thought Anyway I can't wait to see her pics but I can close my eyes and visualize some of what you find every morning when you wake up.

May your friendship be great fun and high adventure for you both and may it be decades long.

Thank you Jack, and Sandy would be a great name. What does everyone else think? Let me know what you all think on Sandy. It'll keep me in the "S." :)

Sandy also has an early John Wayne connection--"Singin" Sandy. :D

I like that!!! I like Sandy!!! Nice name. Sounds like it might match her "sandstone" colored coat.

Carl... I don't know what kind of cell phone you have, but if you can take pics on it and text them, I would be happy to post them for you. PM me, and I can give you my cell number. Just a thought.

Best Regards, Les

Hi Les, I have a flip phone but, the text part is broken somehow. However, if you still want to send me your number? I want to know what you sound like. :D Ill send you a PM now. So far, that's two for Sandy......

Since I had to part with my little rat terrier Moose--my health situation wouldn't allow me to give him the kind of life we had shared before, and it broke my heart--I've considered getting a cat or two. Two kittens who are litter mates might keep each other (a) company, and (b) amused. I'd prefer females due to the lower risk of urinary problems. And I would like for one to be solid black so I could name her Blanche.

But I'm still weighing it. It now appears I'll be on blood thinners for whatever time I have left, and a severe cat scratching could be a fairly bloody mess.

Then again, my sister and a couple of friends think that since my beloved mutt now lives elsewhere (and is blissfully happy because he has a fenced yard and a little boy) I need something with four legs and fur.

I just can't decide. I haven't had a cat for over forty years.

I wouldn't let the fear of scratching hold me back...all the cats we've had, and I have never been seriously scratched. I think you would gain far more than you would risk. It is a constant source of amusement to watch Bella and Lucky and their antics. And they are pretty good company too!!

Best Regards, Les

Well Carl, I am truly honored that you chose my suggestion for the name of your new kitten. Now I feel connected with her in a special way. So...is it possible to be Godfather to a cat? Anyway I am now REALLY eager to see her pics.

We all know the joy of NEW. New car. New boat. New motorcycle. New gun, etc. Let us not overlook the joy of that new CAT feeling. :D

Happy for y'all!

Believe me, cat's are more than worth it. If I weren't so tired after I get off work, id start videoing Sandy. This kitten makes the cutest of sounds when playing, eating-messing with her tennis balls, paper balls, etx. When eating kitten fancy feast-like I gave her this morning as a treat, she just went hog-wild-and I laughed my butt off at her sounds. Something like: Mya ya ya ya ya yaaaaaa. Mmmmya ya ya ya yaaaaa. Til it was a gone.

I have bad skin that I inherited from both my dads side of the family-as well as from a double stapf infection (which cause me a 1 months stay in hospital in 2005) and this kitten loves climbing my legs-causing lotsa "battle-wounds" which I have to put triple anti-biotic ointment on after a session. Sandy knows not what she is doing--ill just have to live with it till she learns. Shasta never really learned to stop clawing me till near her very end. :o Much of the time-she did it by accident.

Hi Jack, anything happens to me, Sandy is yours. I know she'd be in great hands. Also, the extra-gift is sort of a gag gift.

Oh and as Columbo would say--And one more thing--Please Pm me your address. I HAVE it on an envelope--just cant find the envelope. I was planning sending yours out yesterday but?????

I got Pauls out, but Les's will go out with yours.
