I’m bored to tears!! asking for help

Sloppy Joes was reportedly Hemingway's hangout. I think there are two right around the corner from one another. Can't recall which is the original. You'll figure it out. Regardless it's a neat place. Hogs Breath Saloon had great burgers and their ball caps are cool. Look on tripadvisor to see where the best Conch fritters are now. Stay away from Margaritaville unless you really like tourist traps. They have get on and get off trolley's that you can buy a pass for. Neat thing to experience. Lot's to do and see. Have a great time. hardcase60

PS. Just realized that others had posted some of the same suggestions. Great minds run in the same ditch.

Ugh! Whatsamatta wid me?? I've been battling a bacterial sinus infection for the past several days and missed this post!!

Fred told me he was going to Key West, but I missed a call from him before he took off!

I wish him the best. He deserves it. Now, of course, I don't want Fred feeling sorry for me...cooped up in the house with below-zero weather outside, going back and forth from extreme chills to burning up, coughing my lungs out, and trying my best to breathe....while he's cavorting around the Keys in shorts!:D Ugh...pass the peppermint tea.:(

We went to Miami over the New Years break and stayed at a Hotel on South Beach then we took a tour bus to Key West. There's really was not that much to see at Key West, it's a nice little historic town that we walked through one day and felt like we saw about everything that was there. South Beach was great and the beaches were beautiful and there was a lot of things to do but Key West doesn't really have beaches, just rocky coastline.

About the shorts thing,

It'll probably be in the mid 50s in the morning there and then warm up to the low to mid 70s with minor warming for the rest of the week. No rain.

I wouldn't go to the pool or swimming in the salt. YMMV.

Fred, Enjoy your stay. I wish I could be there.

Things for old bear to do,

1. Thaw out.

2. People watch.

3. Fishing.

4. Eat.

5. Chill out (or in this case see #1) and most of all enjoy.

For me, the best part of going to Key West is the drive down US-1 from Miami. I love the towns and keys and much of the time you are very close to, and above, that beautiful turquoise water.

The hotel we stayed at in South Beach was about $325/night and wasn't that great. It was clean and fairly quiet but the rooms and the pool were small and it didn't include anything extra. I can usually find a hotel for under $125/night that includes a nice free breakfast but I don't think you"ll find that anywhere in South Beach or the Keys.

Fred called this morning and left a message. Ms. Judy was out and I was too sick to answer the phone.

He rubbed it in as only Old Bear himself can do...you just gotta laugh. He mentioned the fact that he was sorry that I was stuck in sub-zero weather, but he was currently lounging by the pool in his shorts, debating whether to order the shrimp kabobs or the seafood platter.

And here I am between coughing my guts up and undergoing sinus flushes. Doctor didn't do a chest x-ray but thinks I might have pneumonia on top of the bacterial sinus infection. If the antibiotics don't start doing some good by Thursday, I'm off to the hospital supposedly.

You can darn sure bet I won't have a choice between shrimp kabobs and the seafood platter in there. Nope. Green Jell-o and half-boiled chicken breast. Yech!:(

Anyway, it sounds like he's having a blast...and by golly, he darn sure deserves it. Have fun, Fred!

We had our month of Winter. Temps are now in the low to mid 70s and that's great. Come on to Phoenix.

So, Old Bear, didja find a well-preserved rich divorcee' with whom to make some woopee?

The time to see the "goings-on" in Key West is their annual fantasy fest.

Take your camera and bring back the visual evidence to show your friends just what is meant by; "they ain't like us" !
