Reason im mentioning old news is because most people out there, do not realize he was the one to coin that term: "Baby Killer" in Vietnam when he watched a G.I. who shot a kid. That JERK (Dan Rather) never tried to tell the masses of nightly news watchers the real story of what happened and why?

And as a beloved and sadly deceased radio News Commentator always said (slightly changing his signature line to fit this post) "Here's the rest of the story."

While doing his job so-called reporting news while in Vietnam, Dan Rather happened to be with an American unit somewhere in Country and was at a guard post and im guessing interviewing some G.I,s.

Those G.I.s had to be on alert. One that Rather was standing next to, spotted an "innocent-looking" kid running towards their position. The G.I.s "Spidey Sense" kicked into maximum overdrive.

He knew something wasnt right and the kid was heading towards them at full speed. The G.I. aimed and shot the kid dead. They went to the kids body-while Rather was over-filling his mouth with **** and discovered the kid has dynamite strapped to his chest. After showing that to Dan Rather, Rather must have made a mental note on the news sensation he was gonna create.

Had that G.I. NOT shot and killed that kid? an untold number of G.I.s would have been killed and wounded. I think approximately 60 G.I;s were in the immediate area where there would have been death and destruction-thus saving all those lives and, the life of the ungrateful reporter. Now you know, "the rest of the story."

Who's Dan Rather?

He was a reporter, then news anchor on cbs for decades. Back in the mid or upper 2000s, he royally shafted himself by trying to create another news sensation, by lying about the "Bush Papers" which in fact, he was part of in its creation. He is well known for hating President Bush and was more than trying to expand the then current controversy about Bush's service in the military. I THINK rather wound up confessing on tv, that the Bush Papers thing was all a lie that he knowingly played a part of. End result-he was fired from cbs.

Hi Red, I would like to but, I found this out several months ago, but ive no clear memory where? I THINK it was in some-kind of documentary shown on the History Channel?? I meant to post this back when I found out about it but, I forgot. ) The reason I remembered this was because I heard his name mentioned in the news earlier today.

I do kinda miss the guy that used to do the nightly news on ABC, cant think of his name off-hand but, he was one of the last of the non-yellow-Journalists on tv before he died in the 2000s.

Anyway, ill try doing some searching on the net tomorrow if I can remember to think to do so. Im trying to sell off a WWII Artillery Majors tunic and visor cap, so my minds on that as I need more cash to buy more guns with.

Paul Harvey and the rest of the story...boy that takes me back. When I was in high school, I'd work summers with my stepfather (he worked as a carpenter, at that time, and could get me a job as a laborer.) We'd eat our lunch sitting in his pickup, and listen to Paul Harvey's program.

Journalists don't report the news these days...they are "celebrities" who try to shape and influence opinion.

Getting closer to finding more on this. So far just that he was assigned to make news reports from Vietnam in 1966. No other details found----yet.

I got a big shock when he "came out" as a stark-raving liberal. I got over some shock and lost any respect for him. He was talked about on Bill

Reillys show last night. He did an interview w/ someone and he said Bill o'Reilly would have the lowest rating if he were a news anchor.
Guess the facts escaped him because hes the top rated one on cable-beating out network agencies.
