"I'm going to DisneyWorld!" Help!!!

Last time I was there it was the mid 1980's and it cost a small fortune. I expect it costs a king's ransom today. Heavy traffic, big crowds, people who can't wait to be separated from their money will trample each other to give it away.

Interesting place and fun if you are not the one paying for it.

Best advice is to stay home and watch Disney reruns on cable TV and buy 5 new guns.

Don't get in the van with the guy in the Mickey Mouse costume that you meet outside the park. Not only does he not really work there, but he does not really have any candy either...

Mike:

Sorry, I forgot to mention that security when we last visited was fairly lightweight. Uniformed staff did bag checks at the entry point for each part of the park. Since then, lots has changed, and I bet security is much tighter now. When we visited, I never even carried a pocket knife on or about me. Maybe someone who has attended WDW recently can speak to the security checks visitors may experience.

Regards,

Dave

We just got back, 8 days ago. First off, Disney World is HUGE compared to Disneyland. You could spend 2 days in each park. On the downside, because most people can get Fast Passes and dining reservations months in advance via computer, you are going to find things that are booked-up. I've been to DW 7 times and DL twice. Have fun!

That's true, but often a standby reservation gets you in due to cancellations.

The original "Fast Pass" system seemed to work pretty well. Why it was changed to the more recent arrangement I will never understand. I suppose they had good reasons. I would not pay a dime extra for the "park hopper" option on the admission.

When asked, I always recommend folks stay in one of the Disney "resorts" while they are there. The buses sure beat hassling with traffic and parking, are free, and run at all hours of the day and night to just about everywhere. If you have a rental car you can always leave in the evening for dinner elsewhere if that seems like the thing to do.

The "resorts" are a bit pricey IMO but I have never regretted staying there, in spite of that. Service has always been great. The staff is well trained and COURTEOUS. I have never heard a rude or impolite word in several trips there. Our last stay was at Animal Kingdom Lodge - a nice facility that I particularly enjoyed, but if you go there and want to stay at the main lodge (can't recall its name), be sure to say so. My kids didn't think it worth the extra tariff but I think they are prejudice in favor of the el cheapo Caribbean Beach facility because that was where we stayed when they were just little rascals. All the resorts have a theme. Just pick something that appeals to you and enjoy not hassling with cars, driving, traffic, and parking. :)

I just got back from epcot on sunday. We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Disney Property. We used there shuttle service I parked the car friday morning and didnt get back in it until sunday. It is the way to go in my opinion.

Alot of what im saying you probally already know.

Wear comfortable shoes

Dress in layers it was a lil chilly last weekend and really windy and it rained all afternoon on saturday.

Buy the $1 ponchos at Walmart before you leave. For rain you know

Down load the my disney app on your smart phone. This is invaluable for planning your day.

MAKE DINNER RESERVATIONS. I can not stress this enough there were 2 hour waits last weekend. Also alot of times you can show up early and they usually can squeeze you in.

ride Test Track, first because if it rains it will get shut down. This is true with all the outside rides but you probally know this already.

The fish and chips place in England was really good. The mexican place lookec really good to. We ate at 9 Dragons in China it was affordable and filling.

You can ask any of the quick service reastaurant places for ice water free of charge.

Your bag will be searched and you may have to walk through a metal detector. But your allowed to bring food and drink in to the park.

check into parking at the Transportation Hub for monorail service to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Also you can visit all the resorts.

Have a great trip.
