Nylon can be hard on a gun's finish. But if the gun was stainless...

The gun shown has been in and out of a Nylon holster many, many times and I've never seen any signs of wear. Now I've also seen blued guns used in leather - unlined - holsters that showed signs of wear after only a few holsterings! Stainless is still going to show signs of wear if used with a holster.Originally posted by Nygma: ...Nylon can be hard on a gun's finish. But if the gun was stainless...

Guys tell me what model number's are out there to be had in a .22cal LR. I'm looking for something in a 4" or less. Pictures would also help.

Just for reference, while the Model 53 barrels are marked ".22 Magnum" they use the same bullet diameter as the standard .22RF so these tend to be very accurate when using the extra cylinder - which is slightly longer than the Model 17s & 18s. But, as there were only a few of these made they do bring a 'premium' and the "muzzle blast" on the .22 Remington "Jet" Magnum is extreme and so is the "volume of noise" that this cartridge produces. Whenever I have shot the Model 53, I have used both ear plugs and ear muffs!!!Originally posted by Hondo44:...One last choice for a special 4" with standard style lug (never offered by S&W in a .22 other than the 53), is a 4" Model 53 barrel mounted on an 18 or 17. It says .22 Magum on the side and not easy to find but it's my ideal K frame .22 albeit may suffer some accuracy with the slightly bigger bore...

That's the reason. There is a M-53 4 inch barrel in the Classifieds right now but it will ONLY fit another M-53 and it looks like a take-off. So, there's no telling if it will fit your gun or not. Of course, I'd never have one of these in a 4 inch barrel because the muzzle blast and noise is bad enough in the 8-3/8" guns.Originally posted by Hondo44: Very glad to hear that. Maybe that's why they never offered 22WMR cylinders for the 53. Jim

...but it's too long for easy carry. I'd just as well carry a 7" Model 41.
The 4" is perfection. Easy to carry & feels exactly the same as my 4" 66.
