I'm So NOT Ready

Does it really matter? Seriously? It gets dark at the same time every day during winter. Does it really matter if the clock says 4pm or 5pm? You're an adult, you can stay up past sunset, no one is going to ground you

In Japan, from what I have heard, Daylight Savings Time was proposed but not approved due to opposition from the farmers. (Probably figured their day was long enough.)

When I was working, I used to like it though because you'd have more daylight hours after work.(If you could get off early enough, that is.)

Yes, it's horrible to "lose" that additional hour of daylight, especially when all you'd be doing with that hour is sitting at the computer anyway.

Daylight Saving Time isn't real.

No one is "saving" a thing. It's a hoax perpetrated on the American people to fool us into believing we have an "extra" hour in our day, to make us think the day is longer. It's along the same lines as thinking the sun "rises" every morning. The sun does no such thing.

If God had wanted us to have a longer day, He'd have made the earth rotate slower on its axis.

I had a great uncle that was born in 1880 and died in 1978. He worked for himself from daylight to dark and he never changed his clock. Church was the only thing that the time mattered to him so part of the year Church started one hour different from the rest of the year. He never owned a watch and had a striking clock in the kitchen. Larry

I agree with Lee in Quartz what is this savings thing? Do I save it in a jar and maybe turn it in later after I get a bunch saved up? Is it like S-H green stamps, (yes, I'm old) do I put it in a book and then trade it in for a new toy or somethin?

Yeah, I heard the farmer story before and don't believe it. Like a farmer couldn't start work early unless the clock was set back.

At least it's only an hour.

In several Western European countries, the school week used to include a half-day on Wednesday, and a half-day on Saturday. This was ostensibly so the kids could spend the back-half of those days helping with harvest or other agrarian duties.

The teachers hated the Saturday schedule, so it was dropped. They kept the half-day on Wednesday, and lengthened the rest of the days to make up for the lost Saturday hours.

Yes in my world it does

My grandson gets out of school at 4:00 my wife gets off at about 5:30, I worry about Thier safety roaming around in the dark!!!

When it stays daylight longer I get more done. When it's dark at about 4:00 my mental clock tells me to shut down.

It has NOTHING to do with being an adult or afraid for myself!

Why do we have this silly time change anyway. I know I could Google the answer but I like reading what you guys wright more.

Theres a zillion different answers. The one I grew up hearing was: DST was implemented during WWI-so the farmers would have extra light to reap in the crops with. That's a reason that then would make sense-and I remember someone here a couple years ago-gave me probably THE reason why its noit done away with. Big business. Im all for going back to whatever the time had been before this change was made.

And I'm sure if we stopped that someone else would complain that it messes up their something or other.

I don't know, maybe it's an age thing. I don't get instantly tired when the sun goes down.

I had a uncle that played in the NFL for many years. He always said "play ball when the lights are on and head to the locker room when they turn em off".

We always thought as teenagers running around at all times of the night, coming in at 2 am and going to school at 6am. That he'd taken too many blows to the head. But as I got older, I now understand what he was saying? I think?

i'm sure glad we are getting off this stupid saving thing. i like it better when the clock says noon n i go outside n the sun says noon.
noon is noon. heck with saving time.
