This is my 5th trip to NZ and it still amazes me how friendly everyone is here. There is a genuine feeling of goodwill in the air and you never feel like a stranger here. I love the USA but we could sure use a bit more of this kind of thing here...:)

Just soak it in. Then bring it back with you and spead it around. Might work! Might not.

What T-Shirts? ;)

I lived in NZ for several years. Wife is one.
Heard all that and lots more. I put it down to their being such a small (but generally nice) place that, on the big world scene, is pretty insignificant.
Kiwis get a lot of pleasure from poking the "big guys" in the eye. US is the favorite target, of course, but Europeans (especially France) are not far behing.
And, don't get them started on rugby. That's their only "one up" on the world.

Did you want 911 was an inside job or the George bush with a gun to his head?

Btw..saw a bumper sticker at the ferry dock yesterday that read..."why do they call it tourist season if we can't hunt them?". Maybe this place isn't as friendly as I thought.

I'll take bumper sticker for the win.:D

My son worked with some New Zealand SAS guys the last time he was in A-stan. Bad ***es of the first order, in the field and the bar, they drank him under the table. Tough lesson for a 21y/o, luckily the USAF fixed the tooth he broke on the way down. Apparently the middle east is not dry if you're a kiwi.:D

I always felt that way about Alaska. Friendliest place I've ever spent a lot of time in :)

There was a guy *acting up* in a bar one night. When he left I remarked to the bar keep that he was the only a-h I'd met in AK. The bartender laughed and said "He's from Texas."

I've only been to NZ once (so far), but I loved it, and the people were very nice. At the same time, the people in Australia were great too.

Heck, I'm ready to visit both places again.

I've been there, back in '91. I agree, Sip. The Kiwis are a nice lot, so are the Aussies, but don't tell the Kiwis. If you go to Brisbane and stand on a street corner looking lost, someone will ask you if you need help. Nice folks, pretty girls too.

Do they still call each other "cob" as a term of endearment? My oldest uncle always called my dad that. I finally found out that it was a term he picked up in NZ while recovering from malaria (caught on a scenic, all-expense-paid trip throughout the South Pacific Islands, courtesy of the Second Marine Division).

HA! That's great. I like Texas and New Zealand and I still laughed at that one.
