Implosion of cranes at Hard Rock construction site in NOLA just happened. Attempting to get unstable cranes at site down safely.
Does not look like it was a success. One crane still dangling from the building, and another is standing upright in the street.

I'm sorry, but a 50% at best of desired results, does not a success make. In other words, that was a failure!

I am not a demo guy but have been around a few all my life, the charges were completely wrong on the one crane and that is the result!

The denial is strong in some of those "city officials." ...or they could just be BSin'.

So is the "success" the crane that impaled the street or the one that's still dangling over the street?

I was wondering the same thing. Water, sewer, electric, communications, all possible victims.

Very unfortunate. As a retired structural engineer, I have my own theory regarding the tragedy; I'm betting, since the concrete decks were, most likely, "cast-place" structural slabs, that some or most of the shoring posts, which are required to be left in place for a predetermined period, were removed prematurely.
