Important Proposed Bills to update/clarify LEOSA

For all that carry under LEOSA, you should check out HR 354 and S 1462 that have been introduced into Congress and the Senate.

From my reading of the bills, the intent is to expand LEOSA to specifically cover National Parks, certain Federal buildings, "Gun Free School Zones", and private property open to the public. They also add magazines to the items covered under LEOSA to eliminate problems with state/local capacity laws.

There may also be some extension of the above to State issued CCW holders depending on the final versions of the bills.

Contacting your congresscritters to support these bills couldn't hurt....

The concept that lawful citizen concealed carry can be restricted at open to the public private property (stores, malls, theaters, arenas, event venues, etc) is asinine. If people get all puffy because that "violates the rights of the property owner", no problem, they can just stop public access. But that means no revenue from the public, so they have to decide what is more important- $$$ or being "private".

Hopefully they actually push it through this year.

This has been pushed up the past couple years and they don't get it taken care of.

The Windfall Elimination Provision also has a bill pending that will eliminate it. They have been pushing that up for 20 plus years and this year it appears to have the votes. Sadly it will probably lay there for another year as well.

While I like and approved of this message, I sure wish the Federal bench would smack down some states who have violated the intent of HR 218 for years. In my case it's New Jersey who knowingly write laws they know will take years to overturn. B
