Impressed with my new Sigma

I too am a die hard revolver shooter. I've been looking at a 9mm semi to play around with just because I don't own one. Stopped at Gander Mountain and Bass Pro on the way home from work just to look. The sales people at both places made negative comments when I asked to handle the Sigma. I didn't think it was all that bad. They must not make as much commission on a Sigma as the do on other firearms.

I have not had time to fire mine YET...but my cousin has a Glock and was amazed at how it felt, and he actually liked the feel of the trigger better than his Glock...

sv9 trigger v revolver

very similar. trigger pull in new Sigmas is a non-issue. think of the Sigma as a "semi-auto service revolver"- I just bought a 9mm; I'm trained with and carry a .357.
Here's a dumb question: how does the trigger pull on a Sigma compare with a double action revolver pull? I've never fired a Sigma and my interests are primarily in revolvers (although I have a 1911 which I enjoy shooting). But, I've been tempted on more than one occasion to take advantage of one of Smith's many discounts on the gun. The only reason that I've held back is that I've read so many posts by people who claim that the gun has a terrible trigger. But, my thought is "terrible compared to . . . what?" Compared to a 1911 may be like comparing apples to oranges. The trigger obviously appears to have been designed to be on the heavy side as a safety factor. But, is it as heavy or heavier than a da revolver pull? And, is it smooth, or are there hitches and grittiness?

I got an opportunity to shoot mine today and I'm very pleased with it. If the trigger were lighter it would give my M&P a run for it's money, but it's a great gun for it's intended purpose (which to me is a good quality, entry-level pistol). While it might not be my first choice, I'd have no qualms about this being my only gun for ccw or home defense.

I have had my SW40VE for a week and finally got to shoot it today. I have been shooting a .357 magnum for 30+ years and I was surprised by the Sigma today.

I was shooting pretty good groups low and to the left to start with. I guess I thought the sight picture was supposed to be 6 o'clock and my brother said "duh.. no, it is dead on sighting". That cured the elevation problem, but then I think that I was flinching on the trigger pull. Have to admit that the recoil was a bit stiffer than I expected and I think that not being used to the trigger put me off a bit.

So no, the trigger doesn't need to be fixed, 'cause it isn't broken. It is like dating. I just need to get used to this gal a little bit more. I am glad I got the 40 instead of the 9.
