A few weeks back Bud's advertised a new Remington 870, 12 gauge, 26" barrel with wood furniture for $420
Being curious about the quality of the new production 870's, I went ahead and ordered one. Looks like I got the last one, as after I ordered mine, they went out of stock and price went up $50.
Box said Remington, and cant find a date of manufacturing, but box was in mint condition. This gun has not been sitting around long .
Anyhow, it turned out to be one of the best looking 870's I've ever bought. The wood looks very nice and fits much better than the last one I got. Who ever assembled it got the stock and receiver perfectly aligned .
I did have to clean the barrel, it was filthy, but once clean , the chamber showed to be nicely finished. Can not feel any machining , just smooth as glass
Everything about it just feels and looks perfect.
Much more than I expected from a $420 870.

Glad to hear. Video I caught showed poor wood to metal fit around receiver. Would love to see the Wingmaster and 1100 come back and look like my 1980 1100 with walnut. Am sure the prices will be up there on these models if we do see them. Own 3 myself but bought them 40 years back. For now just browsing the used gun racks for an older Wingmaster.

Remington is Back

Thank you for the New Rem 870 review and taking a
chance buying one to see if they are indeed improved.

I like the Rem 870 shotguns, probably my most
favorite, durable, reliable, and well made
shotguns out there.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Hopefully, ALL THINGS REMINGTON, including their ammo division will be much better quality than they have been in the recent past.

Right before their bankruptcy they were about the bottom of the barrel!

I'll echo what has been said. Thanks for the review and I also hope that this means Remington is back in a good way!

I'd still like to try out that Tac13...

Was it the Express or the Wingmaster? At that price I'm thinking Express. Are they even making both models now?

Not yet. I would imagine the Wingmaster will cost twice the money with polished bluing and walnut if we ever see them. The 700 I saw looked pretty "unfinished" with matte bluing. Love to see the 1100 brought back but the price will be steep if made the same as 25 years ago.
