Impulse buy

Stopped last night looking for a little .380 or a .22 for a BOB gun. Ended up with a new M&P .40 full size. This ever happen to anyone else? I shouldn't be allowed to go out unsupervised. A month ago, I didn't own any Smiths, now I own three. M&P 40, 5906, and a 4516. Plus, I still need a BOB gun.......

I think half the guns I own were impulse buys. I am a sucker for pretty wood. That's why I have five 30-06 bolt action rifles in the safe. And I usually don't big game hunt with a rifle much anymore (handguns usually), let alone with an '06.

Just picked up an early 60's model 28 last month at a gun show, for no other reason than it "spoke to me". Now its in the safe, speaking to a bunch of other .357's who in the past said "pick me baby"...

The 5906 was a good grab I surely love my stainless model fitted the stock with the rubber sleeve (slide on) and works well at the range. Sleeves are inexpensive and make for good handling. Also fitted mine with a Galco inside the pants Holster for carrying purpose. Good luck to you with yours.

It started for me with a BG380. Then it seemed lonely and having shot my buddy's 40c, decided it would make a good companion and protector for the little BG. One day I found my LGS was out of 40 ammo but had quite a lot of 9mm, so I bought a 9c. Shortly after, looking at the small holes the 9mm made in paper targets, I bought a 45c. Thought I was done for a while until I saw this absolutely beautiful S&W 1911DK. You know the rest of the story.

I was leaning toward the M&P22 last night, because I really had no plans to spend $500 on a gun at that time. Then the man at the counter said "you are here all the time, so 10% off anything you want." Ended up with the .40, $500 was more than I wanted to spend, but $450? How could I say no???

I joined the Gun of the Month Club right after Christmas. I joined a indoor range and got a yearly membership. When you buy a gun from them you get a month membership free. Five guns since December and I haven't even started using my yearly and at this rate I will have it for next year. They just keep putting guns I like in the counter where I check in every day. If I could just figure out where to get the $2500 for the Colt 357 snake gun it would be my next. Darn still got to pay for the GP100 yet.

You're first revolver should be a 686 plus 4". I accidently chose that as my first and could not have been happier. 7 rnds of 38 or .357. What more could you want?

My first revolver was a 686+ 3". It is a very good choice. Most versatile gun I've ever had. I've never seen so many different types of ammo you can get for one gun. Still finding more. Could be the only gun you'd ever need. Yeah, right. My very next one was another .357, model 60 - little brother to the 686.

Impulse buy. Pretty much every gun I have falls into that category. Went in to but an M&P 9. Came out with a Sig AR instead. That's close isn't it?

My brother in laws dad has a King Cobra that's never been fired. Lots of people have offered lots of money. He always says no. He had no desire to shoot it, not really even a gun guy. He bought it randomly. He still doesn't know why. Lol

I chose a 686 4" myself just because anything was hard to get at the time (by accident LOL) and still that is my favorite gun to shoot and up until this point the only one my wife will shoot, I'm hoping she likes the M&P 22 because of the ammo prices. By the way mine is not the plus it's only a 6 shot but can't imagine the 7 shot shooting any better.

Yes, but definitely not with a M&P. More often I go out looking for a gun and come home empty handed.

Yeah, what's up with that. Last 5 or 6 guns shows I attended I purposely put cash in pocket, made note to self - buy gun. One gun for that many shows!! Bummer.

I never come home empty handed. I have a great job that pays well, no kids, and was smart enough to get wife I had. Have nothing to spend on but guns. So I do. Averaging about $2500 a month just in gun and ammo spending. There's always something out there to buy.

took me a year before i bought my first handgun, my 40FS.

but i'm that way with any major purchase. i looked at nearly 60 homes before i bought my first one.
it took me 2 years before i bought the orange Chevy Avalanche i wanted.

I am also single and have plenty of disposable income, just can't buy guns that don't float my boat, especially those with internal locks and plastic frames - I own a G30 and don't need another.

Two years of research and contemplation and you still bought an orange Avalanche? Perhaps you should try impulse buying.

In the banjo community, this is known as BAS (banjo acquisition syndrome) but I'm not sure that "GAS" would be an appropriate or accepted acronym for gun guys!

well, i loved the sunburst orange color(SF Giants fan) and the versatility of the Avalanche and it's been a great truck for the past 8 1/2 years.

I just hate it when Florida Gun Exchange has one of their big sales. Sometimes desirable guns are $50-100 cheaper than my neighborhood gun stores. Several times, I have gone to just look and bought two guns at once. One time just checking it out resulted in three new guns that day. Another thing that can happen is that you will find a reasonably priced, good condition gun you have wanted for a long time. Such was the case with a nice Sig P239 9mm. Fortunately, I can go for long periods of time without purchasing new guns.
