...I have to say how much fun I had shooting mine the other day. Sure, it is homely as a mud fence - certainly the most unappealing-looking pistol design I own. But that trigger - wow. It verged on boring to shoot a big hole in targets at my standard 30 feet away and the functioning of the pistol was flawless.

Thank goodness they used the same magazine in the newer Creed, or else we few, we proud, we PPX owners would be SOL.

This pistol represents an astonishing value in a 9mm. I know why it was killed off, I can tell by looking at it, but the poor old PPX is still a ton of fun.

I misread the thread title as "In appreciation of the Walther PPK" so you can imagine my confusion/disbelief at the following statement; "Sure, it is homely as a mud fence - certainly the most unappealing-looking pistol design I own." but then I scrolled down, saw the pics, and thought to myself; "Oh, the Pee-Pee-Ecks..."

That being said, while the PPX most certainly isn't pretty compared to other pistols on the market, it's a far cry from the ugliest. In fact, compared to the following handguns, it's downright gorgeous...

The LeMat Cartridge Revolver - A Cartridge-firing version of the much better-looking LeMat Revolver used by the Confederate States during the Civil War.

I have always wondered about the PPX and Creed pistols. I see them for sale from CDNN for like $260. I always thought wow that is cheap but I have always read good reviews of them! They seem like an under valued pistol.

Think Walther quality and accuracy with Electrolux styling. That's the PPX. The Creed, I have to admit, looks pretty stylish in comparison.

I bought one new two years ago for 219.99. I actually found the trigger too light for me, but I'd think most people would love them. Sold mine but it was a nice gun and you'd be hard pressed to find anything that good that cheap!

The PPX is a great shooter. My husband had one and everyone who tried it, shot very well. Great sight picture and the pre-cocked action makes for a nice lite trigger for a range gun.

Hubby reluctantly traded it off after experiencing the dreaded feed ramp separation and chambering failures. The warranty replacement was said to be from a Creed, but still uses the same type of barrel assembly. Some time after he got his replacement, other owners with the same failures had more aggravation getting replacements, so he got rid of it.

Good luck keeping yours running well.

A friend of mine, now passed, was a big Walther fan, he did not care what they looked like. For him they were all fun to shoot. That is all that mattered to him. He would buy them in Houston when he flew in, and let me shoot them and hold onto them until he drove into town. They were nice guns.
