Spent several hours yesterday doing maintenance on the in ground sprinkler system.

I only use Toro Professional sprinkler heads and yearly maintain them with FTGA sprinkler maintenance fluid.
This is only available to those in the industry or if you know people in low places.
About FTGA - Florida Turfgrass Association

With a yearly application of specialize fluid, my sprinkler heads stay clean, resist rust, corrosion and mineral build up. The run smoother, pop up faster and rotate smoothly. Also good for solenoids and diaphragms.

MAKES SENSE TO ME.

With 7 zones & a jillion heads (it seems), my knees still hurt after 1 at a timing it last year. It's high up on the TODO list. Just waiting for the temp/humidity/fire ants to become unbearable.

It doesn't surprise me that Floridians need products like that. My inlaws in Palm Beach County have reclaimed sewage water sprayed on their lawns through the sprinklers and the overspray makes a nasty mess on our car parked in the driveway. Can't be good on valve seats and orifices.

And I was waiting on the firearm reference! To hell with sprinkler heads I'm going to start using it to clean and lube my guns. :D

You must have some nasty water down there. Been maintaining sprinkler systems, large and small, for 33 years in Colorado and never heard of anyone using anything like it.

Very interesting!

Question----how does that "sprinkler maintenance fluid" get to the solenoids and diaphragms?

I did sprinkler and well drilling work for 38 years.Never heard of anything like this.We have some high iron content wells around here.Sounds like good juju to me:D

I have 48 huge pop-ups, 12 Station Rainbird controller.
I have my own well system that supplies my water. Because I own the land, I also own the aqufier underneath my property. TEXAS LAW.

I have found out that the more you water your lawn the faster and lusher it grows which means you have to cut it more often. I figured that grass has survived for millions of years based on what nature gives it and by watering it I was interfering with nature and giving myself more work to boot. So guess who doesn't water, irrigate, fertilize or otherwise give a hoot about making his lawn grow to artificial standards.
Nature rocks! :D:D:D

I've been blessed with all sortsof stuff growing in my yard, post hurricane harvey. Sunflowers, stinging nettles, palm tree sprouts! I never had any of that in my micro nation grounds. However, I've got this fantastic thing now taking over: wedalia. Listed in Florida as an invasive species, it's now spreading across the grounds and choking out all the weeds and other junk. All I do is mow and edge and mulch. We'll see......
