Increased production? How about hasty packiers?

As I've mentioned before I've run onto more than my share of factory goof ups in the years I've been selling ammo. Too many when I worked the gun show circuit but I still run into the occasional glitch at my part time retirement job at wally world.

Last night we received 6 cases of Winchester AA Lite Target loads, all still sealed with the factory glued down case flaps. The very last case proved interesting........... As I was pulling the boxes out to stock the shelf I found one box was stuck, I could just see that the top flap was open and stuck under the case flap. So I removed all the other boxes so I could pull the case flap loose and get the box out. Figured the shells would go all over the counter so I would have to repack the box.

Much to my surprise the box was empty! No shells at all! At this point I am guessing on two possibilities.... If machine packed, the box got caught, dumped the shells out on the machine (and floor!) and the machine went ahead and sealed the case. Or, possibly, if hand packed it was end of shift and someone just wanted to finish one last case before they could leave. Either way it was certainly screwed up..................

it would have had to have been hand packed case that was packaged empty, OR someone put an empty box on the pallet.

I have been under the assumption the cases are loaded by machine systems that build the outer cardboard case box AROUND the stack of filled ammo. the systems weigh the loaded ammo boxes and redirect odd weighing boxes

I can not hit a clay with #8's 2 save my life, I do OK with #7.5's. A few years ago I bought 5 boxes of 100 7.5's ,4 boxes in each case. when I got home the boxes marked 7.5's had 4 boxes of # 8's inside. as we all know there are no returns on ammo. I took them back anyhow and was told no returns on ammo to which I said if I buy a ford but it turns out to be a chev you can sure bet I am returning the chev since I purchased a ford. after talking to many managers they said we are going to go get you 5 boxes Of 7.5's but you will have to take the 8's with you as its federal law no returns on ammo. I left with my 1000 rounds of 12 gauge.

Old Cop, thank you.
I have been told it is federal law that you cannot return ammo. I have been told this at a # of places and times, believed it like gospel!
I thank you for questioning this, It is false. However it is policy about everywhere. took a minute to google that wives tail.

They're packed by hand . There's a video online showing workers packing Remington Game Clubs by hand .
